Varnado is stuck overseas

Varnado was supposed to be at Miami Heat training camp if the lock out ended fast enough.

But it didn't and he decided to go to Israel and play for Hapoel Jersualem. He is signed on for 2 years...



He doing pretty good, only playing 20 mins a game.

I must say I do share a lot of your frustrations with the Heat philosophy, but you can't say that it's a completely flawed system. we owe a big part our only ship to old washed up savvy vets like Payton, JWilliams, Zo, and even Antoine. If you think about it, Dallas won with a boatload of them and our old guys, although definitely didn't help our causes in the finals, weren't the main reasons we lost when you have a superstar that plays as poorly as Lebron did to look to first.

Also, with choosing Cole and with Riley openly admitting to look to younger more athletic players & Spoelstra saying himself that he's been studying "other philosophies"... we're seeing our management make an unprecedented speedy effort to change for what best suits or core players. With Miller potentially being amnestied and Joel being the only questionable contract from here on out (do you really think Morrow or Brewer would have won the ship for us last year?), I say it's not much worth getting upset about.

As long as we get a big to bang for us... the rest will fall into place. Remember, this is our REDEMPTION year! GOHEAT

They could actually play, not like they no talented extremely washed up players.

Miller has been washed up for since 2007, dude isn't worth 30 million for 5 years

Joel isn't worth 5 years 18 million.

I don't have a problem with the players, it's the length of contract and the money and the constant letting go of young guys who are actually good or have potential for washed up vets.

And the Mavs unlike the Heat, have a buttload of young guys waiting in the wings. The

Roddy B, JJ Barea, Corey Brewer, Dominique Jones, Rudy Fernadez.


They are not overseas, they are on the roster, they are in the DLeague, they are visible and participating, not in Europe for 4 years waiting for Pat Riley to bring them back.

And young players are cheap and tradable, they are liquid assets, you can flip a young player for a draft pick or a vet that is actually worth paying, or you can release him.

A vet has no worth in all honesty, once you over 30 and you been a role player for most of your career, you are not worth anything. U are washed up, you suck, there is no talent left to suck from your body and to actually help a basketball team for 5 years.

So the Heat trade away all their draft picks, they got the 1st rounder in 2012

They also trade away all their young guys beside Chalmers and sing up 2 guys over 30 for 5 years.

Do you really wanna pay Joel and Miller for 5 years and they are over in their 30s and already reached their peak? They not gonna get any better.


So if Miller is amnestied Heat have basically let Dorrell who had a very good season and is 24, for Miller who played 2 seasons for them and didn't do squat.

On top of letting go of players like Pat Beverly and Butler who could've been had cheaper. And then if they did not perform well, hey we still got cap space.

What makes me upset is missed chances to have a nice young core already in place. I don't mind getting vets, but know their worth, anybody who seen Mike Miller and Joel know damn well they ain't worth what they got.

He's only caring about himself, he wants to play. The Heat aren't going to let him play anyway.

I'd rather have him than Joel if we're going to allow Anthony to just shotblock, cause atleast this guy doesn't have hands of stone...

But Spo loves Anthony so it's a lost cause.

A 2 year deal? Strange... he really had no intention of coming to the Heat to play and be patient if he signs a 2 year deal.
