Worst Teams in the League
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/5-o ... -teams-nba
ESPN running a piece today titled Help needed: Worst teams in the NBA
5-on-5: With the season 25 percent complete, who has struggled the most?"
Of the 5 Panelists, the Bobcats featured notably:
3rd Worst team:
Henry Abbott, TrueHoop: The Bobcats. "Mark your calendars for Wednesday, though, when the Wizards come to town. Loser wins their choice of 30th on this list, or the award for most aggressive tanking in advance of the nice-looking 2012 draft."
Mason Ginsberg, Hornets247: The Bobcats. "Charlotte has three wins all season against teams with a combined record of 17-29. They have losses on their record to New Jersey, Detroit and Cleveland (twice). Mullens has been a nice surprise for them to go along with Kemba and Bismack, but that's just about all that's nice in Charlotte right now."
2nd Worst Team:
Spencer Wellesley Percy, Queen City Hoops: Charlotte. "The Bobcats are a mess right now. They have no one to turn to for offense, sleepwalk defensively and it's anyone's guess as to what the rotation will look like on a nightly basis -- Silas is trying everything. D.J. Augustin is now out for at least the next two games, so it's now Kemba Walker's mess to run and Biyombo may not be far behind as this team's next starting center. Prediction -- by season's end, the Bobcats will have the worst record."
Worst Team:
Dan Feldman, PistonPowered: Charlotte Bobcats. "Where to start? Gerald Henderson is their best player. Boris Diaw started for a while. Kemba Walker can't shoot. Bismack Biyombo is too raw. Tyrus Thomas doesn't care. D.J. Augustin is injured, and so is Corey Maggette, who's shooting 30 percent. And I've run out of space with plenty of Charlotte problems left."
Beckley Mason, HoopSpeak: The Charlotte Bobcats. "They have the least amount of talent in the NBA. Though they play pretty hard, it's impossible to mask the stench of a team whose best player is either D.J. Augustin or Gerald Henderson."
Washington was our main competition, with Det, NO & Sac also.

ETA: I'm not sure I want the worst record, Last year it was good for the 2nd pick. I want the 1st overall!

I don't particularly agree with "Tyrus Thomas doesn't care" he might be one of the few that consistently does care. But I don't want to drift.

Re: Worst Teams in the League
Meh, its still better than over paying for a team to just miss out on the playoffs.
This tank is long overdue.

Yep, I'd say their analysis is right on.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Exactly! We traded away our two best players for youngn's and draft picks. Of course we are one of the worst teams. Right now we are hovering just under the middle of the pack cap wise with a ton of expiring salary the next couple years. That is much better than being in cap heck with a mediocre roster, and no way to dramatically improve for five or six years. Uh um Golden State, Milwuakee Bucks.

Re: Worst Teams in the League
Sad thing is a bad record doesn't always grant you a top 3 pick. In 2007, the Boston Celtics had the second worst record and rounded up picking 5th overall. If all went well for them, they would've had a top 2 pick and would have gotten a chance to pick Kevin Durant. I'm just glad our guys are playing hard out there but it's pretty obvious that our team lacks talents. I just hope the lottery balls goes our way.

Re: Worst Teams in the League
Well, worse what can happen is pre-lottery spot + 3. I.e. with worst record a 4th pick at worst etc. Still worth it and really no option with this roster anyway. I wonder how the game versus Saunders free Wizards will look like.

Agreed, he's had some injuries etc. this early season and has had some troubles getting a rhythm but I don't see how anyone can say he doesn't care.

Yes! Flip Saunders was fired! Maybe the Lizards can mess up and win a few games for us.

I used to be mad at analysts constantly underrating us, but it's hard to argue with any of these choices.

Re: Worst Teams in the League
thats bullsh*t in terms of talent there is no way the Wizards are worse then us.... Heck in terms of talent I would argue that UNC was deeper then us....

Re: Worst Teams in the League
the wizards are about to go on a run (compared to how they have been playing). if the coach opens up that offense and lets wall do his thing, the wiz will look much better. they may be dumb as a team but in terms of talent they blow us away. they were playing well below their talent level. we will finish with the worst record and before the season i never thought that was possible. i always felt our defense, chemistry and playing hard would at least give us enough wins to beat out some team of injured vets who quit on their coach.

Re: Worst Teams in the League
Hell based off of talent alone the Wizards, Kings, and Timberwolves are all playoff teams.

It's a number of things, lockout, lack of practice, condensed schedule, rotations, injuries, Carroll...

Well you have to make densive stop to run. Otherwise you will meet prepared defense and will have to play half court. It doesn't help most of the possessions end with ill-advice jump shots and other fumbles without shared ball - big men should be rewarded by sprinting to offense.
They surely are much more talented on paper and from watching pre-season footage they looked poised in fast break simulation. But then they ran up into Sixers' defense in pre-season games and were like deers in headlights. Most of them don't do any little things and it shows...
