Donald Sloan Released

Post#1 » by Superiorblogman » Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:58 pm

Per MC's tweeter account. Not a surprise. The surprise and bad sign would be Pargo getting released because that would most likely signal that they are intending to keep Kirk instead of trading him when they know they really don't have the cash to re-sign him next year unless he takes a contract well below his value.

Hinrich is still the obvious trade chip. Sadly it isn't necessarily to better the team. If Kirk proves he's back to health his salary would fit into the trade exception held by the Lakers and the removal of his salary puts the Hawks under the luxury tax. The positive is that we'd have room to use the MLE or a Hinrich trade exception to add a big.

Hinrich being moved to say the Lakers improves the team in several ways. I don't think he is any better than Pargo for this particular team. If he could bring you back 1 of LA's 2 1st rd picks and that TPE then that would also better the team next year and potentially this year. Moving Hinrich is addition by subtraction in so many ways at this point.
