Re: Whats The Blue Jays All-Time Team?
C-E.Whitt (who knows, this is the toughest spot IMO)
1B-C.Delgado
2B-R.Alomar
3B-J.Bautista (I'm cheating)
SS-T.Fernandez
LF-G.Bell
CF-V.Wells (I'd love to put L.Moseby here, but I'm trying to be fair)
RF-J.Barfield
DH-P.Molitor (maybe J.Olerud if I wanted to cheat again)
SP-R.Halladay
SP-R.Clemens
SP-D.Stieb
SP-J.Key
SP-J.Guzman (lots for this spot. I'm probably missing at least 1 guy who should be over Juan, but he was too much fun)
CP-T.Henke
SU-D.Ward
RP-M.Eichorn
after that I don't care, except you gotta have R.Mulliniks on the bench.

Re: Whats The Blue Jays All-Time Team?
Looking at your bench and RPs that's about right to me, although you conveniently have 2 DHs.
oops, Paul's gone now.
Hentgen I can't argue with, but when I'm remembering SPs the first 2-3 years of Guzman made me much happier than even Hentgen's Cy year. And Eichorn!!!! A 5+ WAR season in relief, that's the sum total of my argument for him. Okay, to be honest I just looked that up. How is it possible that he threw 157 innings in a year without a game started? Over 2 IP a relief appearance almost 70 times boggles my mind. I remember thinking he was awesome, but I was like 8-10 years-old at the time, so I wasn't paying attention to IP thrown by a relief pitcher.

Was going to have Molitor first, but then I thought, Olerud could fill the DH spot. He was a great hitter for a good stretch for the Jays.

Re: Whats The Blue Jays All-Time Team?
I won't soon forget the Jays having the best three hitters by average that year, nor Olerud's quest for .400.
Position players look right, but for the rotation I'd take out short-termer Clemens.
I'd go:
Halladay
Stieb
Hentgen
Key
Clancy
And in a few years I'd probably replace one the latter two with Romero. No offense to those last two but it's odd in 30+ years we don't have better pitchers to include in this list.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Re: Whats The Blue Jays All-Time Team?
The thing about Clemens is that he was so good in his two seasons that I think he has to be included over relatively mediocre pitchers. It's no different than really including Bautista at this point.

Yeah that's always the problem with these sorts of lists. The criteria I usually go by is whether the player, if inducted into the hall of fame, would go in as a Blue Jay. For a guy like Clemens, it obviously wouldn't be as a Blue Jay.
Then again, on that criteria alone maybe we shouldn't include Halladay, because he could always go in as a Philly since he's had more team success with them.

I always view these as best season by a Blue Jay. In some ways, it'd be fun to add a year beside the player's name as well. Even if it was only 1 year, but he was MVP that year, I think it should count. Bill Simmons (who I know everyone has a love hate relationship with) did this in his basketball book naming the Space Jam team. Made for an interesting read.

Too soon. I'd put both Barfield and Carter ahead of him in the OF (he's not even close to Bell yet). I can see the arguement for putting him at 3rd though.

Clemens has to be included. He put up two of the best seasons I have ever seen, especially 1997. Clemens was awesome in Toronto and those two seasons on their own warrants him being on this list (whether he juiced or not).
Halladay-Clemens-Steib-Key-Hentgen is my rotation.

dont mean to derail, but All-Time list is pretty much set. i'd be interested to see the Jays All-Time Worst Team
