Do you think it makes sense for Joba to even think about rushing his return to the game? In my opinion I think he needs to concentrate on rehabbing his arm and making sure he is able to maintain his health for the latter part of this year and the rest of his career.

Re: Joba
The question is, who in the pen is going to go? Yanks pen is committed to Soriano, Robertson, Mo. Can someone like Joba continue to take a reduced role after what he's been through? I don't think so. I think the Yanks will use him as trade bait as they continue to try and lower the payroll.

Re: Joba
I would think the Yanks would want Chamberlain to focus on being a reliever and trying to get back to what he was when he first hit the league. Not impossible and Chamberlain seems to be focused mind and body. With the 189 million threshold looming it doesn't look like they'll be serious players for Hamels and will likely go with more of the Garcia's and the what nots to fill the back end of their rotation for the forseeable future behind Sabbathia, Pineda and Nova. At which point you need all the muscle you can get in the pen. You get Chamberlain back into that lights out guy he was and you may still have one of the best bullpens in the game when Rivera retires (probably at the end of the season).

Re: Joba
Yea but much like Hughes' contract, Joba's time is going to come up soon too. How much can you really spend on pen?
