Spurs/Jazz/Wolves talks (CJ Miles)

Post#1 » by Krapinsky » Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:40 am

Here's another one, CJ MILES :-?
The San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a three-team deal, according to sources close to the situation. Nothing is imminent, but the teams will continue to talk over the next two days. In the rumored deal, the Spurs would acquire Josh Howard, the Timberwolves would acquire C.J. Miles and Jamaal Tinsley and the Jazz would acquire Danny Green and Wayne Ellington. Other players and draft picks will likely be included in the finalized trade. HoopsWorld

I'm not a Miles fan, but this would clear Ellington's salary next year.

Fine by me. Miles isn't great, but hes better than Wayne IMO.

He's an upgrade to Ellington but this obviously isn't a deal that puts us over the top. Considering Miles is an expiring as well, I'd do it.

I wouldn't even go so far as to say Miles is better than Ellington. I think they're about the same. Miles can be a low efficiency chucker.

They're pretty much the same. Only difference is Ellington is the better 3 pt shooter but Miles can score other ways than standing behind the 3 pt line like Ellington.

NO! Wayne and Miles are similar, and if Wayne gets consistent PT, he's probably better. I've been clamoring for him to get consistent PT all year and the few games he has, he's been a big contributor. I don't get why so many people are down on him.

And no, I'm not a NC fan, I prefer Duke. So this isn't a Tar Heel fan supporting a Tar Heel player.

^Wayne is only good if he's making a shot from the outside.

I'd do this. CJ Miles is an expiring, and he can at least create his own shot. Ellington isn't worth anything so it's basically a win-win.

Tinsley has a player option which pays him $1.35 million next year, the deal makes no sense for us without a pick. Unless Kahn is really trying to save $735k off the cap next season, or hates Wayne...

This.

We could probably use the guy that can create offense more than 3-point shooting more now with Ricky down, but it's not a big gap. We don't save much money, we'd have to open a roster spot, and the Thuggish Ruggish Clone isn't exactly the type of veteran presence any of us have had in mind.

Rather have Ellington than Miles.

However I did bring up making a move for Tinsley.............10 years ago.

Huh?

I think it is a team option... at least according to ShamSports it is.

Of all the wings on the Jazz and Spurs we go after Miles? Trade Utah back their pick and try to get a better player.

Correct.

$1,352,181 (TO) confirmed by rotoworld as well. No team would be stupid enough to give him a PO.

Storyteller also has it as a team option.

So does Hoopshype. Wyn definitely has this one wrong.

Our you **** me.All we have to due is trade Wayne Ellington and we get a major up grade at the SF spot in a still very young C.J. Miles and also a back up PG for the rest of the year in Tinsley. Were due I sign up.

At worst both guys come off the books after the season and or we can resign CJ Miles on the cheap to be our starting SF(upgrade over Webster/Johnson) on our current roster and at if we can find a better SF option then he gives us a very solid back up to help fill out the soon to be best bench in the league.
