OT: Knicks fans celebrating Mike Woodson

Post#1 » by Rip2137 » Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:51 pm

So Mike D'Antoni has resigned. Chances are that Mike Woodson will be the head coach for the remainder of the season.

I see alot of Knick fans thinking this is a GOOD thing, because clearly it is Mike D'antoni's fault that New York hasn't been successful.

Good luck with that Mike Woodson thing guys. For all that I hate about Larry Drew (and I hate alot) he is still better than Mike Woodson who is honestly the worst coach I have ever seen at the NBA level. And I watched Tim Floyd...twice.

As for the nonsense that Mike D'antoni got blamed for..He was the coach of the team during a couple of salary dump years, and when he finally got a solid team last year, they blew it up to get Carmelo and the team played pretty crappy the rest of the way though they still snuck in the playoffs. This year, the team stunk, Melo and Amare aren't there, they become a REAL Mike D'Antoni team again, those two guys come back and the team sucks again...yet this was his fault.

I feel sorry for the guy. The world seems to have put on this distorted reality field where he wasn't successful in the playoffs with the Suns, and the Knicks failing was his fault. Ridicoulous. A truely great coach is going to be remembered as a failure despite it being anything but the truth.

Mike was a good guy. He just had horrible preparation and adjustments, and could not manage accountability with his players at all.

We're not exactly celebrating Woodson; much rather celebrating the change of scenery now with D'Antoni gone. Again, he was a good guy, but is just a very bad fit for the Knicks.

Nah. He's not that terrible. Keep in mind when he got here this team/organization was in shambles. Every single year he was here our regular season record improved. he made the playoffs three straight years and made the 2nd round in consecutive seasons.

He wasn't great, but he wasnt the worst. He is actually a really good regular season coach when teams don't have much time to prepare against you.

He's just really bad at adjustments, and thus, is a terrible postseason coach.

But I'm sure Knick fans would settle for an ever improving regular season record and playing deep into the playoffs.

The team got better because players got got better. Woodson was still horrible.

I'm not basing it on wins. Case in point, Vinny DelNegro is probably the worst coach in the league right now and his team is top 5 out West. I watched every game Mike Woodson coached and he was simply the worst decision maker I have ever seen. I don't think Phil Jackson could have WON with some of those teams, but the there is no excuse for bad coaching, no mater how bad your team is

The Knicks destroyed Portland tonight. Congrats to Woodson and his players for making a statement.

Meh, Portland's been in free fall lately so it's not much of a statement, we all know Woody takes pride in blowing out bad teams.
