Since Dwight decided not to leave.....
And there is a chance more than ever now that he may re-sign with Orlando. If Deron opts out. 2 teams with the money to sign him:
Dalls- his hometown, thats a big pull, but they are old. very old. and everyone is expiring in the next year or two except Dirk. Without Dwight going there as well, I feel like it loses appeal.
Indiana- 3 biggest things we are in need of. A legit superstar. An elite scorer with the ability to create his own shot. An upgrade at the point. He provides us with all of that. And we are already a great, younger team, with huge upside. Add Deron to the mix, and we contend, right away.
I feel like he has to take this into consideration now because of Dwight. He may want a bigger market. But whats more important? A big market, max deal, and **** team. Or a smaller market, max deal, and championship contender? He has to think about that, am I right? And i know a lot of people are really wanting EJ. But....
Which team is better:
Hill/Collison/Price
EJ/Hill/?
George/?
West/Hans
Hibber/?
OR
DWill/Collison/
George/Hill
Granger/George
West/Hans
Hibbert/?
I know which looks better to me. Obviously its dreams. But it could happen. And he has to at least think about it right? And he was happy in Salt Lake City. Indy is a better market than that. So idk, I just feel like its feasable to dream.
Thoughts?

Anyone who would want Eric Gordon over Deron Williams is crazy. We need a PG way more than we need a SG.

I dont know that anyone wants him over DWill. Just saying he's discussed much much more. Hometown kid, etc etc. And I feel we'd have to trade granger to get him on a sign and trade when we could get DWill straight up. I love EJ as a Hoosier myself. But Dwill has been my boy since Illinois. Dudes a badass, and imo, the best PG in the League. Rose might be a better player. But DWill is a better PG. I really pray it could happen

Somebody in the other thread said max to EJ. There is a spectrum in terms of people's opinion of him that ranges from that to mine, which is the dude is two injured and won't be an all-star in this career.
Deron Williams would be the sickest FA signing this team has ever pulled off, ever.

Both or one of them, they are very welcome
PG or SG, as long as he can create, it is good enough for me.

Re: Since Dwight decided not to leave.....
could you imagine adding him to current roster...minus ppl expiring that won't be signed back(no one important)?!? we are instant champ contenders. instant! if bird makes that happen i would let my fiance fluff him every day until he dies, lmao. just saying. IDK how many ppl from here are from indy/colts fans. but after losing peyton and half the team, we really need the pacers right now to really emerge. and we are. but adding deron. oh my damn

i like your thought process, lol. but i still feel dwill, george, granger, west, hibb > dwill, ej, george, west, hibb.
i really think george can play sg for his entire career. he improves almost daily. he has a legit shot, imo(which is slightly swayed, cuz ive been in love with him since day one as you all know), to be an all star next year. i literally think he is the best player on the team right now. he just doesnt take enough shots, and for some reason, doesnt get enough minutes. only think i hold against vogel, whom i love. if he got 38 mins a game and more touches. i really see him getting 22, 7, 4, and 2.....hes such a rare talent. he will be indianas best draft pick, savior ever. Sorry Reg. I love you. Just sayin

I disagree that he'll ever be better than Reggie Miller.
Reggie Miller is underrated outside of Indiana. People praise Kobe for all of his championships, Miller probably could have won as many championships if he had the same rosters Kobe had. Miller is on par with Kobe imo, he just didn't have as good of teams(although some were pretty damn good) and he had. Definitely never had a player of Shaq's caliber. Smits, Davis, Rose, none are close to Shaq's level. Then he also had to go through MJ, Pippen, Rodman, Kuckoc, Kerr, Longley, Armstrong etc. If you swap Miller around on either of those teams with Kobe or Jordan, he would have won some championships. Paul George is a freak of nature for being a 6'10 shooting guard but he's 21 and averages 12 points. I have high hopes for him but never in my wildest dream does he reach Reggie Miller's status. You're essentially saying you believe Paul George is a future hall of famer. No way am I ready to say that.

Frizz i def respect your opinion. we are on par on so many things. And i love Reg more than/as much as the next guy. He was Indiana's savior. He went through so much, and had the toughest teams to deal with ever. I've always said if it wasnt for the bulls we wouldve won a few titles. I respect reggie so much. I'm just saying, when i look at PG, he is so smooth, has so much potential, i believe he will take us to a title. He'll never replace reggie in true pacer fan's hearts, or ever be greater than reggie. But i believe he can lead us to titles. he is special, so special. and has so much room to improve. I believe he will be a pacer savior as well. if i owned the pacers, reggie would already have a statue outside, ignorant that he doesnt. But i believe PG will do it for us. We will win a title with him, i really believe that. And his statue will be next to reggie's. He will be something very special. mark my words

Re: Since Dwight decided not to leave.....
I will be totally happy if he reaches Reggie's level. I just feel like he has a better chance of reaching Jermaine O'neals level when he was in his prime. Or T-Mac. Something along those lines. Great players while they dominate but no chance of being a HOF. If I'm wrong, great. That just means the Pacers win more and it will be a fun decade. I won't say he doesn't have the talent to be a HOF but it's more than having the talent. The average player with Reggie Miller's talent probably isn't a HOF'er. You have to have the mental aspect too. Maybe more than anything because Reggie was the first too admit he was never really the best at anything athletically. He made his career out of working hard and being smarter than others. He just had a knack for the game and understood everything about it. Just hard for me to have that kind of expectations for someone so young. Maybe if it was the top pick and it was Lebron or Howard. They just overpower everyone. Paul George has freak gifts for his size but I don't know. I could seen Vince Carter or Tracy McGrady. I'd take Reggie Miller over them any day though. Maybe not in their prime when they could jump through the roof but overall, Reggie was a better player. I'll be more than satisfied if Paul George touches any of their levels.

I agree with you on all of that. I dont know how old you are. Im 25. I seen reggie only in glory days of mid 90's on. he was great. but paul is in his 2nd year. he has a stroke, he has composure, he has skill. reggie wasnt great for a few years that i know just by reading. i remember watching reg and he was great. no one will ever replace reg. but maybe paul can lead us to titles. maybe. he is so amazing to me. and i believe he can surpass reggie one day. this is just like luck and peyton. in a sense. no one will ever pass peyton though. peyton is the best thing that ever happened to this state in sports. we won a superbowl. but King George is amazing
I havent been on here for awhile. thats my fault. this board is so dead, its dumb. we are going to get it going. I love my pacers and colts. Need to be more proactive

About the same age as you. Just turned 26 in Feb. So we pretty much have the same knowledge of the Pacers.
Also... and you're gonna hate me. I'm actually a Titans fan lol. Titans just signed Steve Hutchinson and are going after Peyton hard. I imagine you're not high on the Titans. It's okay... I'm a Vols fan but despite Manning being a former Vol, Titans took precedent over him. I never minded him doing well though when it wasn't against the Titans. I pulled for the Colts in both Super Bowl appearances. Going to be weird if he signs with the Titans.

Ew...Titans...
But on the George/Reggie issue:
I am younger than jnzook, but have watched Pacers games going back to the ABA. Mel Daniels defined the Pacers during those days, and ten the torch was passed to George McGinnis. Then there were some dark years before Reggie came along. He defined the Pacers spanning two and a half decades. However, the next guy to stay here for more than 10 years as the top player (or win a ring as a top player) will define the Pacers and the next generation won't remember Reggie as much.

Guess I just don't have that faith in Paul George. He will be a good player, I don't ever see him being a a hall of famer though. I hope he is, I really do. You can usually see elite players for the most part when they come into the league. He is all-star caliber but I don't believe he is hall of fame caliber. I guess I'm just being rational and not getting ahead of myself. He's shown flashes but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll do it more often and do it forever. We can hope that, I hope he does. Predicting a hall of famer at 21 is insane unless it's Lebron. He put up better numbers than George when he was like 3 years younger. I see a great player in George, I don't see an elite player. It's not a knock against him. Even Stevie Franchise had his moments. Just saw that the dude had a top 20 most expensive house on Cribs. He was only good for a short period. Players come and go. Some are fads. Steve Francis was great when he was great but not elite.

Even Lebron could've Grant Hill'ed. You're right. I don't like calling careers before their over. But saying it COULD happen in this case isn't insane.
