NJ trades pick- STUPID- Jazz should have contacted the fools

Post#1 » by Hoops Addict » Fri Mar 16, 2012 1:46 pm

NJ traded their 2012 pick ( only top 3 protected) for Wallace. . The GM of NJ is an idiot. You can get a player of that level as a free agent.

Question- Once I heard the [ick trade might happen.....i thought the Jazz would call NJ and offer them Jefferson or Milsap for the pick.

Would you trade either of those guys or Gordon for that top 3 protected pick?

NJ is the new Clippers....straight up stupid.

NJ is 5th.....that pick could be Barnes, Beal, Gilcrest.........

How do you know they didn't?

Maybe NJ would rather have Wallace than Millsap or Jefferson......

I don't like that our FO didn't do anything, but to say they're stupid because Portland and NJ made a deal, instead of NJ and Utah, is in itself, incredibly dumb......

I'm still in disbelief over what the Nets did. DWill likely leave now with no Dwight. So now the fans look forward to...Brooks and Crash?

At least if they had their pick they would be able to look forward to a guy like Barnes, Lamb, PJ3, or Beal.

King should be fired IMO.

I get that they went all in on Deron when they traded for him and that took guts. But this blazers deal is the kind of thing that cripples franchises for years.

I wish Jazz made a move to get Bell or CJ out of the way. But I bet they didn't want any of the crap that would return.

I'm also just glad they didn't make a stupid short term move trading away a young guy or the GSW pick for a vet for this "playoff run." they know it's about the future.

I am sure the Jazz contacted them and probably offered Millsap in the same deal. I think the Nets like Wallace alot more. I am also never thought Dwill and Millsap were best buddies either. The Nets would have also looked a little stupid trading more picks to the Jazz again

Obviously giving a top 5 or 10 pick for Crash is an idiotic idea, I'm not sure we could get that out of Millsap. The only players that could do that for us is the young guys which we aren't parting away with.

Crash is still probably a better investment than Jefferson or Millsap for the Nets considering they needed a SF.

Well, if you want to know what the Nets are thinking in making the deal it helps to look at the press release: http://www.nba.com/nets/news/Wallace_Tr ... 20315.html
"If you try to build a team, we've got a starting point that's pretty good (in Deron Williams); we've got a 5 – (Brook Lopez) has been hurt, but he's pretty good; (Kris Humphries) has done a great job as a 4; and MarShon (Brooks) has done a great job developing as a starting 2," King said, during a conference call with media. "I just felt at the 3 position this year, thus far we've had a lot of injuries; I think DeShawn Stevenson) has done a great job, but it's not his natural position. And looking forward, I think you need to have 3 men in this league, because you're going to face Carmelo (Anthony) and LeBron (James); you're going to face guys that are very talented and you've got to have guys that can guard them."

So unless your expectation is KOC summon his jedi mind powers and convince NJ that Millsap or Jefferson are a starting-calibur 3 in the league you don't have a shot at the NJ pick--even if you think Millsap and Jefferson are "better".

If the Nets win some luck in the lottery and go top three, then King would look like a genius wouldn't he? That's the thing with NBA GMs, sometimes you have to gamble and roll the dice.

Plus, I think with this move, it proves they're hell-bent on making D-Will stay. Lotto picks won't make D-Will stay. Standing pat won't make him stay. So they had to roll the dice. That plain and simple.

I respectfully disagree.

If the Nets go top three, they will look lucky, not smart.

And I'm pretty sure D-Will is smart enough to see that this trade doesn't get them over the top (hell, they have to get close to the top first) and it's a crap move long term. They don't get to win now, or tomorrow, or the day after. It's a move towards lasting mediocrity.

Unless they get lucky.

King is a fool.

Destroying the future/next year, present, etc. is awful. He made a stupid trade.

NJ is going to suck for a long time.

Deron has to leave NJ if they are not top 3. He probably does not want to play for a team with an incompetant GM.

I wonder if Stern talk to King.....and told him it was a stupid move?

I think what is most shocking is that they have Houston's first round pick, which if teamed with their own top 5 pick could have possibly gotten them in the top 3, or would have been very valuable on draft night for a team looking to move up.

They sold the pick when it had the absolute least amount of value, and got almost nothing for it.

Kevin O'Connor broke Billy King last season.
