A good SF?

I'm hoping we keep Sessions, who can we sign as our shooter defensive glue guy SF? Are there some candidates for that in this years FA?

I think Pietrus would be a good fit. But personally I'd rather keep Barnes, he plays well with Sessions out there.

Tayshaun Prince, Trevor Ariza, Nicolas Batum & AI9 would all be good fits for us.
I think Tayshaun is a free agent after this season and Trevor Ariza might be able to get Trevor back using the TPE. Nicolas Batum is a RFA after this season but Portland will most likely retain him and AI9 is a pipe dream but might be possible. No matter who we get or let go I dont want to see Barnes gone, dude is the 5th lowest payed player on out team but the 5th most productive. Love everything he brings to this team and especially now that we have Sessions, his numbers have gone up. Hes the youth and energy we need on this team & I hope LA give Matt a nice payday at the end of the season cause hes earned it, unlike some ex-lakers who would earn $5 mil just to heat up the bench.

Batum is also a pipe dream.

Beasley is a restricted free agent, and he's easily worth more than our mini MLE meaning the Wolves should match a mini MLE bid.

I think we should use the TPE this summer though, either in a sign and trade or for someone under contract at the 3. We are still allowed to do sign and trades until 2013-14, so might as well make the most of it while we are still allowed to.

I don't think Minn will pay 4+ mil per for a guy they play 15-20 mins a night..Beasley has fallen out of the rotation, began the season as a starter but now he's not even 6th man material

Mini-mle?Don't know about that one, they might match but it's not certain

Saw 20+ minutes of action once in his last 10 games, and even that single time,in a blowout loss..lots of games with 8-12 mins too

I do expect a team to pay 5 mil per year at least for him but it won't be the Wolves(won't match that kind of offer)

Can we get Beasley via sign and trade? Somethin like TPE + 2nd round for him?

Were do we find money for a good player. Resigning Sessions will be a big chuck of money. Barnes seems to be the cheap way to go.

Prince is under contract until the 2015/16 season and it wouldn't make sense for them to buy him out this early in his contract, so he won't be a FA. Iguodala is under contract until the 2013/14 season with an early termination clause for that year, we don't have any money so we can't sign him which means the only way it "might be possible" is if we traded for him. Which would more than likely mean Gasol is gone. Ariza isn't a cancer to the team and is the only worthwhile SF on the Hornets, why would they dump him for a TPE? Especially when they have one of the lowest payrolls, if not the lowest payroll in the league?

Prince is the only realistic option but his contract is ridiculously long and he's already 32.

How about trading for Corey Brewer? He is young, athletic and a good defender. Maybe something like Blake and a 2nd round pick for Brewer? Nuggets could use a backup PG behind Lawson since Miller will be a free agent and they already have Gallinari and Chandler at SF.

beasley won't be a restricted free agent, but rather unrestricted, cause minny isn't going to offer him his 8+mil qualifying offer unless he plays way better.

either way, unless the lakers get minny to work with them in a sign n trade using the 9mil TPE, lakers don't stand a chance with their 2.5 mini mle.

Thats what im hoping the lakers will do, work out a deal using that tpe to bring beasley in. He would pretty much replace murphy and mcRob and would play spot sf mins.

dude is exactly what we need

The way I see the SF position shaping out for the Lakers is that Artest will get amnestied and let Ebanks walk then the Lakers will resign Barnes to be the starter and then I hope the Lakers can somehow figure out a sign and trade for Beasley using the TPE. If that doesn't happen Brewer for the TPE makes sense also the Lakers should maybe look into Ariza for the TPE I dont see much of a future for him in NOLA. Batum is to expensive same with G. Wallace obviously.

Funny how we Laker fans are never satisfied. Can't even kick back and enjoy this session... we're already talking about essentially moving on from the MetaBarnes.

I wonder what next we gonna talk about if/when we sign a Small forward.

This team right here can win it all if they do what they need to do. You have a legit and most importantly consistent PG, a legit twin tower of solid dominance paired with solid fundamentals, A guy that is still a premier on-the-ball defender despite his occasional offensive woes, and ...the mamba himself. If is certainly enuf to get it done (if the guys can consistently play 48 minutes basketball and without injuries).

Just relax and enjoy the show this time...

The Lakers have 15m or so in luxury payments for 2013-2014 just because of Blake and MWP. Considering that the two of them will also add in about 11m next year it's pretty much guaranteed that something has to be done with them. That Laker 1st in 2013 is likely to be used.

Right now one possibility would be Blake+2013 1st for a starting SF similar to a Sessions deal and then simply amnestying Metta or trading Metta after a better playoff run. Perhaps a 1st+Metta for Marvin Williams who is around Sessions' age and could him give a running mate for a few years after this era.
