Should we make an offer for Odom?

Post#1 » by BobsBuddy » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:22 pm

:( :( :o :o :-? :-? Lamar/Y'J have 1 year left on their contracts. If we could trade Najera's expiring + TT,we really wouldn't be any worse off? The big question would be if MJ could talk Lamar coming to Charlotte. Positives for Dallas more money off books to sign Dwill. TT change of scenary back to Texas may make him 12-12 roll player... Positives for Charlotte.....The 12 year carreer stats on,Lamar with the LAL/LAC/DALmake him one of the best 6th men ever at 32 in NBA..Y'J can give us another 7 footer for 1 year.. We lose TT 3year contract. and also Carrolls roster spot is used on a big man. We don't have to amensity Diop... just let him sit for a year.
I know this sounds crazy, but Cuban might just bite at it to dump Lamar's contract around draft time.

Odom comes off their books at the end of this season (his 8.2 mil for next year is a team option which Dallas will certainly decline).

They'll just let his contract expire and bid him farewell.

Nobody's touching Tyrus Thomas' ugly deal unless they're sending us some degree of undesirable garbage contract in return to offset his.

Ummm... No.

Unless we can get rid of TT's deal for him. Then trading for him may work out. Lamar would never report here. Never. So if we trade an expiring + TT's contract for Lamar and a pick (2nd rounder). Lamar wouldn't report. We would work a buyout similar to DFisher did with Houston, and then get TT's contract off the books and get a pick for the hassle. Then it would work out.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

I love this guy to death, but I'm not sure it's a good idea. It seems like he'll close out his career by being a journeyman and role player on title contenders. He even might screw over some of those teams that will choose to pick him up just like this season in Dallas.

He had the potential of becoming a Top 50 player of all-time and I used to believe that he's simply too good of a guy to be such a superstar. That Lamar would rather move the ball around, take few shots, grab plenty of rebounds and just get everybody involved like a true team player. But after this season I think it's safe to call him a headcase. Dude could have been much more and sometimes it bothers me so much (him being my favorite player and all).

for him it's either L.A. or retirement. why would he come to Charlotte if he didn't even want to play for the Mavs?

He could join Diaw in the all underachieving team.

He makes Diaw look like an over achiever. He is over the hill and fading fast. His diva attitude isn't helping.

Isn't he required to have a DIVA attitude once he married a Kardashian?

Lamar Odom is a bum. To get paid 8+million to play the game of basketball and whine and sulk the way he did about being traded was one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen from a grown man. If he really didn't want to be there he should have pulled a Derek Fisher when he was traded to Houston and just not reported.

  Thanks Dtum123. I didn't know about Dallas Team option on final year of Lamars contract and Cuban is so '":>'issed at him, I understand them doing what they did. and y'all are right he has no desire to play here. LAL will not take him back. He might resurface in Miami ,NYK or Bos in the east. HE may just disappear forever. Looking at his 12 year carreer if he could just get his head together ,some team could really benefit.
I suggest we close this topic and just see what happens.
