Howard or Carroll?

Post#1 » by Reckless » Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:15 pm

Carroll has been able to gel with the team in a short period of time and be a junkyard dog type player. Howard is more of a shooter/scorer.If you had to choose between Howard and Carroll to bring back next season who would you choose.

Oh and Chucker J Miles is out of the question in case you were wondering.

From a statistical standpoint CJ is actually slightly better than Howard, but ok.

I think Carroll brings more to the table than either Howard or CJ and we could probably resign him for the minimum.

I am 90% sure that Carroll got a 2 year contract when we picked him up. On one of the O'Conner interviews he said something about having him next year as well. I guess it could be a team option for second year or something like that, but I think he will be back and he is better then CJ or Howard.

Look at the bottom of the article... it says "if the Jazz can resign him"...

For what it's worth, Carroll quoted Jamal saying something to the effect of: "The Jazz will probably only give you a year, but you're auditioning for the rest of the league."

My personal recollection is that it isn't a two-year deal, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

carroll.

i really like howard. sucks for his career where it is right now. bummer of those injuries. i think howard is too much of a risk next season. and i think howard's veteran minimum is a bit higher than carroll's minimum.

Not for the team paying it, the NBA picks up everything after $854,389 (number will most likely change next season); so even though Howard gets paid more, it costs the same for the Jazz.

Im pretty sure the Jazz signed Carroll for the remainder of the season with a team option for next year. In any case, Carroll should start the rest of the season (I thought I would never being saying that) while Howard should get limited miniutes until he proves he is even able to be effective after the injury.

carroll all the way. howard has one of the same problems big Al has. they kill the offense occasionally. the ball gets in their hands and their teamates dont know what to do. they dont know if they should cut or post up or screen. cause they dont know if howard or al is going to pass or shoot or turn the ball over..... the both make really stupid plays. the best grouth i have seen all year is that al's court vison is getting better. sadly i cant say the same about howard.

Junkyard Dog.

He loves playing the role that he's playing, and I love him for embracing it.

Howard, to me, was always looking like he was trying to prove more than his abilities, which ended up being a lot of bad possessions.

I really like Carroll's effort and grit.

And I can't believe how much more I've enjoyed watching the games since CJ has been out.
