Donatas Motiejunas Was 5th In Euroleague Rising Star Vote

Post#1 » by Raptor_Claw » Sun Apr 22, 2012 11:17 pm

I figure that Rockets fans would probably be interested in this. The top 5 vote recipients for the Rising Star award of the Euroleague, which is given to the, "best Euroleague player aged 22 and under" were:

1. Nikola Mirotic

2. Furkan Aldemir

3. Milan Macvan

4. Kostas Sloukas

5. Donatas Motiejunas

:D let me help you.

In English phonetics,

Nikola Mirotic = Nick oh lah Mir ro tich

Furkan Aldemir = Fur khan All de mir

Milan Macvan = Me lahn Mach vahn

Kostas Sloukas = Cost us Sloo kus

Donatas Motiejunas = Don yah tus Mah tee yun us

Hopefully that helps.

from Wikipedia: The Houston Rockets acquired Jonny Flynn, the draft rights to 20th pick Donatas Motiejūnas and a 2012 second-round draft pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Brad Miller, the draft rights to 23rd pick Nikola Mirotić, 38th pick Chandler Parsons and a future first-round draft pick. The Rockets then re-acquired the draft rights to Parsons from the Timberwolves in exchange for cash considerations

So Mirotic is better than Motiejunas but we gave up a future first round pick to get Motiejunas.
At least we were able to get Parsons back.

I don't think that Mirotic intends to come to the NBA for a while.

Really looking forward to getting Motie over here next season!

Visitor here....

Anyways, Motiejunas is looking great recently. I know he has a label of being soft and arrogant but at least about the first part he's been one of the league's leading rebounders and has played with aggression to the basket. I found a recent video and I noticed his more aggressive play... he looks quicker, has nice post moves, and is most importantly attacking the basket:

Awesome spin move at 21 seconds...

I think he was a very solid pick-up @ 20 in such a weak draft. 12.5 pts and 8 rbs is pretty solid in the Euroleague for someone his age: http://www.euroleague.net/competition/p ... ?pcode=LCZ

Does anyone know the protection of the 2013 pick we gave up to get him?
