What would you think about a trade for Amare?

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Tue May 1, 2012 11:56 pm

Perhaps a Tyrus Thomas/Corey Maggette trade for Amare, and run the system with him in the middle surrounded by 3 pt shooters (maybe get Beal in the draft if don't end up with top pick).

Even if team gets Davis with first pick, with him and Biyombo, there wouldn't be much inside scoring with that duo for a while.

I know Amare has one of the worst contracts in the league, but not sure the Bobcats have much to lose at this point, and in the right system, Amare can shine. Particularly if he was next to a defensive minded guy like Biyombo and some good shooters that would make other teams pay if they doubled Amare when he went in to dunk in the middle.

For the record, I'm a Suns fan who would love to see Amare get back to doing what he does best, and play with players who aren't iso players like Melo. But I can't imagine any team trading for his contract unless they were just giving up equally bad contracts and really had nothing to lose by doing it.

NO WAY. Rather cut Tyrus and Maggette than watch Amare play some of the worst defense ever seen on an NBA court.

Bottom line is we need at least 3 starters that can put at least 20pts a night consistently to be a contender. Amare has proved he can do that, and Thomas has proved he is a bust, and packaging Maggette to make it happen would be worth it. However the decision would depend on who we draft... if we pickup Davis, then it's better to drop that coin on a superstar SF or PG.

I imagine we aren't going to make any moves until we get a real coach though..

Bad defense, bad contract and a total douche bag,

MASSIVE pass on adding him to our roster.

What good is Amare's 20 ppg on offense when he gives up 40 ppg in the paint?

MIght consider it if they gave us their 2013 1st also. But I cant see NY wanting to give him away that badly.

No way, we are not going for any quick fixes and adding a salary such as that would go totally against the rebuilding principles.

If we were able to add a top 2 pick to Amare and try to bring Deron Williams here then yes.

No, just no. We don't want back on the treadmill. We'd look like the Raptors when they still had Bosh, if we were lucky.

Adding overpriced 30yo vets like Stoudamire is a surefire way to return us to mediocrity and 35-42 win purgatory. And that is the last thing we need.

Patience is key and if we can endure one more year of bad basketball while clearing out some more cap room and adding another lotto pick, it will pay off in a big way.

This isn't happening anyway; but if we were able to get him and sign Deron Williams while keeping our draft pick wouldn't that make us a playoff team with the right supporting pieces?

A playoff team yes but IMO we would look more like the Hawks than the Thunder.

Despite his weaknesses, I would consider it about two, three years ago. Not when he's 30.

Hey Deron, come play with Amar'e and the team that got 7 wins! It'll be fun I promise! 30+ wins guaranteed!

Amare's defense makes Diaw look like Bill Russell.

Diaw plays good defense when he's motivated. He was our best post defender.

I agree but he is nowhere near Russell's league still.

as far as a trade for amare goes, you could get better anyway. He's not a **** player, just on a **** contract. Someone would want him, someone in the playoffs tired of a player they have in a similar role.

His contract isn't insured, and he seems to be deteriorating before our very eyes.
