OT: Yankees-where's the clutch hitting?

Post#1 » by Iamphilhughes » Sun Jun 3, 2012 3:49 pm

As many of you know, the realgm yankees board is dead. I know many of you are Yankees fan so I thought it would be appropriate to post a little something on the Yanks after last nights loss.

Maybe its a bit early in the season, but as a Yankees fan, i'm a bit worried about the team. The lack of clutch hitting (understatement of the year), lack of production from Tex and Arod (this problem doesn't seem like its going away anytime soon), and inconsistent pitching (We know CC will go on a roll and Pettite is Pettite..but Hughes, Nova and Kuroda im not so sure of) have all been big problems.

This Yankees club does not look like a championship or even playoff bound team. Just wanted to hear some thoughts from fellow Yankee fans.

Ps- what really annoys me is Girardi consistently putting Arod in the 4th or even 3rd spot in the lineup. The dude should be batting 6th based on merit. I'm tired of hearing announcers saying he'll get hot. He's going to be 37 years old!! Just accept he's not the same Arod. What's so hard about this? It annoys me when people blame Arod. What do you want him to do? Turn back a time machine and become 8 years younger or give back his money to the Yankees?

LOL @ playoffs...

It's been known for a while at least for me that we weren't going to resemble a playoff team. We look old, players getting injured, the inconsistency,..SMH

I think they were right when they said it's the Mets year.

I miss Georgie :(

Our Yankee 'google' group (containing most of the posters from the old USENET group) is probably a bit more active - although even it isn't that active.

Can we make an official Yankees thread on this forum? Like a sticky or something?

We are definitely making the playoffs. LMAO @ Mets fans who think they aren't due for another historical collapse at some point in the season.

Yeah, a 1 game playoff for the Wild Card against the Orioles.

Yankees have got to get this turned around. Too many times I am seeing pop ups, Gidps and strike outs with runners on base in scoring position with less than 2 outs.

Vets take a little longer to warm up and come around. 40 games into the season, the NY Yankees have the BEST record in the AL. Of COURSE, 2/3rds of the season left to sort things out.

Yanks need their pen to get healthy with Robertson and time to call up some arms.

Whether it's 10 runs or 3 runs...or even 1 run...win is a win.

Hudson did a nice job of keeping the Yanks at bay for the better of 6 innings. True, Yanks don't often give Kuroda much run support but he is the #2 and was paid to do that.

Speaking of clutch, Yanks were down 2-1 till Granderson went Yard with a man on.

Imagine the kind of runs this team can put up per game if they hit the Mendoza line with runners in scoring position?

Runner on second and both Cano and Granderson strike out. The offense sucks. You aren't going to win any World Series if you are always waiting for a homerun to come around. Especially in the playoffs against elite pitching.

you know your offense sucks when your catcher is bunting with a runner on 2nd with 1 out and Jeter due up next.
