Ryan Anderson S&T with Kings question

Post#1 » by Skin » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:14 am

Anderson is a RFA, but he's a Sacramento native (as I'm sure I didn't have to tell you guys). But do you think it's at least semi-realistic to do a S&T with you guys for him? Something like Ryan Anderson for Jason Thompson and Terrence Williams? Not sure how it would work, but I think all of the players would have to agree to it since they are FAs. But would it possibly work out if they got the money they were looking for?

I'm just guessing, but I think Anderson would be looking at $7-8M per year. Thompson, $5-6M?...Williams, $2-3M? Do you think that this would be agreeable by the players and teams or no?

I like the idea of adding Anderson because of his age and outside shooting. As for the trade I would prefer to keep Williams. He showed promise in Smart's offense which was similar to the way he played in Louisville. Im not too sure the same results would carry over for you in ORL. Would you be interested in Travis Outlaw, Tyler Honeycutt, Garcia or Salmons to pair with Jason Thompson in the trade? If not then I would be okay with Thompson/Williams for Anderson

Don't think you can do a double S&T and I don't think we have T-Will's bird rights anyway.

But I'd be interested in adding Anderson in general. Not as the main option. But a 3-man big rotation with him, Cuz, and a really strong defensive presence would be ideal.

Well Willliams is a RFA. Does it matter that you have his Bird Rights?

I think you can do double sign and trades but I'm pretty sure you can't have one team signing and trading two players in the deal. Would have to be JT for Anderson and to that I say an obvious yes.

I'd say that JT is HOPING for 7-8 per.

Ryan Anderson is looking at the 10+range after last year's breakout.

And for that price, he's not worth it.

What team do you think would offer Anderson that kind of money. The Magic wouldn't offer first. They would wait to see which teams go after him and then possibly match. But they wouldn't set his market value.

I don't see teams who have that kind of cap space to use it on him. But I would like to know if you think you have a legit case.

If I recall correctly, Anderson was pretty mediocre when Howard didn't play, which supports the conventional wisdom that he needed his man to double-team Howard in order to get his off-the-charts three-pointer stats. I think enough GM's have the brains to make that argument at the negotiating table to get this $10M+ nonsense out of the picture.

It's a legit argument that should humble his asking price.

Didn't we nearly acquire him back when we did that Brad Miller/Salmons tradeto Chicago? IIRC, we were about to do a deal with New Jersey that included Anderson in the deal. He's definitely a Geoff petrie kind of player

true as it may be, as Cuz starts to demand constant doubles, Anderson would find himself in a similar role.
