With new Orlando GM Rob Hennigan having added Detroit VP of basketball ops Scott Perry today, sources say to be on the lookout for the possible addition of Chicago scout/senior manager of basketball operations Matt Lloyd. He isn't likely to make the jump until after the draft, but Hennigan has his eye on him as a respected scouting/stats man who was played a huge role in formulating the Bulls' college scouting database.

Matt Lloyd to the Magic?
Hey guys, Magic fan here and was wondering if some of you could tell us some info about Lloyd. According to Amick, our new GM is pegging him next to join our FO.

Pretty young relative to the other scouts I've talked to, but he seems to have risen in the Bulls ranks pretty fast as he's head of their college scouting. I've never had a long conversation with Matt though I've met him a couple times, but we share a couple mutual friends and they rave about him as professional and as a person.
It's impossible to know which scouts backed which prospects the Bulls have drafted, but when you look at the Bulls draft record, they've been very good IMO, given that Lloyd was promoted within the past few years, it seems likely that his scouting record was better than others within the organization and that he was a large contributor to their better picks.

So is he the one we thank for our good draft choices since 2008?

Awesome info. I had never heard of him to be honest, or if I did, I forgot about it. Good summary as well.
I also wonder what his position would be, I'm assuming it would be a promotion.
Although - maybe he just doesn't like the cold weather.

Lloyd is a tireless worker who lives NBA basketball. GREAT guy who does his homework. He is loyal to the Bulls and if he leaves, it will leave a hole in our front office. I just hope we are trading him for Dwight.
He is from Chicago so weather has nothing to do with it. You would be lucky to have him so i assume it would be for a promotion.

Re: Matt Lloyd to the Magic?
Lloyd would presumably be offered an Assistant GM position with the Magic (with Lloyd and Scott Perry assisting Rob Hennigan).

Hey this actually went through. Bulls will miss him, he was the basketball saber metrics guy for the Bulls. Well, if there was ever a chance that D12 was going to get traded to the Bulls, now is the time. LLoyd has intimate knowledge of our players and now works for Orlando. Plus, i asked him very nicely to make it happen.

Not happy about this. One of our biggest advantages is drafting quality players late. Lose that and we dont have many pros left.
