If we're fully out of contention in a month

What would you like to see the Jays do?

Trade or extend Edwin? (trade/extend/let him become a FA)
Trade or extend KJ? (trade/extend/let him become a FA)
Go ahead and add an inning-eater pitcher? (Y/N)
Add a 2-3 starter? (Y/N)
Call up Snider/Hech/Gose?
Make a post-season run with a Laffey, Chavez, Richmond, Cecil, Vilanueva rotation?

I bold my answers.

I think we should extend EE, he's a big bat that we could use if we want to contend next season. I say we trade KJ if he has any value, defense has been average and has become the strike out king. We need to upgrade at 2B. We should get an inning eater if it comes cheap, if were fully out of contention why further risk our young arms? Bring up Snider to see if he can finally stay on the major league roster.

I agree we should extend EE. It makes no sense to trade him when we're only going to have to go out and replace his production anyhow.

KJ I'm torn on. He was great to start the year but he is really scuffling lately. You can live with the K's when he was homering and walking as often as he was early in the season.

I'd like Snider to come and see what he can do for the remainder of the year. If he's not coming up then, I hope they just go ahead and move him at the deadline in a package to fill a need.

We need a starting pitcher, according to MLBTR we've been scouting Wandy Rodriguez and Matt Garza. The Jays are mainly interested in pitchers they can control for next season or several seasons after.

As for Edwin I think we should keep him.

The Blue Jays are giving “little indication” that they intend to trade potential free agents Edwin Encarnacion and Kelly Johnson, Rosenthal and Morosi write. Scouts are saying they’ve been told Encarnacion is available for the “right” pitcher, Stark reports. Yet one person told Stark Encarnacion is "not available, as far as I know." Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.com wrote earlier today that the Blue Jays would have multiple suitors if they make Encarnacion available.

Stark suggests the Blue Jays could have interest in recently designated Cubs starter Randy Wells.

More than anything we need to add a front of the rotation starter. If our pitching continues to be horrendous every night the hitters will become demoralized.

Trade, if the value is right.

Trade or extend KJ? (trade/extend/let him become a FA)

Trade, if the value is right.

Go ahead and add an inning-eater pitcher? (Y/N)

Unless they're under contract for some time and fairly young, no. We could get lucky and buy low on someone, but should otherwise wait for the off-season, when valuations aren't as mental.

Add a 2-3 starter? (Y/N)

See above.

Call up Snider/Hech/Gose?

Yes, no, no.

Make a post-season run with a Laffey, Chavez, Richmond, Cecil, Vilanueva rotation?

Needs to happen, IMO.

We could also move Adam Lind for value. Oh maybe we had better not wait a month. How about tomorrow.

Trade Edwin, KJ and even Baustisa.
Doesn't matter what we add if we're out of contention, but we could definitely use pitching help.
Call em all up.
I assume your last question is a joke.

Schad I'd like to know what you think is "fair value" for EE ?

Im not trading him unless we get back a prospect like Zach Wheeler, Carlos Martinez, Zach Lee or Nick Castellanos and Im not convinced we bring back that kind of haul.

Neither am I, though I think he'd have sufficient value to make it worthwhile. The Rangers, as an example, could use a DH, as Michael Young is looking pretty done at the moment, and they're pretty desperate to get a-winning now. Would they trade Jurickson Profar for Encarnacion? Doubtful. Rougned Odor? Eh, unlikely, but possible (I regretted missing him on name alone...now that he's a monster prospect, it's a scythe through my soul just to type that). Martin Perez? Probably, as he has wobbled a little given their rushing of him. Might even throw in a little extra value, as Encarnacion's status as an impending free agent means less given that they can afford to pay him...and if they win a ring, they won't much care. And a nearly-ready LHP with Perez's stuff strikes me as better value than giving EE $10m+ a year -- assuming that we succeed in keeping him at all -- hoping that this isn't a mirage.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the new CBA still give us two picks for EE if we offer him the one year contract and he walks. In that case, wouldn't any haul that we get now have to exceed the value of these two picks? Not sure how the rules work.
