It's true that Bell sucked for the Jazz, and more surprisingly became a locker room cancer when he was brought here in part to be a veteran leader.

Having said that, I think there is a role for him on a good team such as the Lakers. He did shoot 35 and 39% on 3's in his 2 years in Utah. If he were not counted on every night to produce, he could help a team. I think you could do worse for a 10th man or 5th wing, maybe 10-12 mins a night with some DNP-CD's mixed in. Just don't count on him for any more than that.

So hes good enough for Kobes back up? can he at least defend wings for 10-12 mpg?

He can still spot up shoot good but thats it. He can't do much else and to say he's a defensive liability would be an understatement.

When he wasn't hurt his defense was still great, but that was about 10 games. Raja has very little left and we're glad to see him gone.

He would be good for a contender to play 10-12 min per game, but his defense which use to be good is now average, his 3 point shot use to be good is now average, and his ability to do anything else is pretty much non-existent.

and probably cheaper.

The only potential Raja Bell has is his ability to spread animosity through the locker room like cancer. Well, that and brick shots. His entitlement comes from him being in the league for a long time, not necessary producing in the league for a long time. The only reason a team should pick him up is if you feel like you're scoring too well, and want to give the opposition a fighting chance.

Let's put it this way: I'd rather have CJ Miles.

Another thread, just went through all this
see the thread something like: Bell is gone, (officially)

nghedman wrote:Can you tell, Jazz fans don't like him and felt we had higher expections when we signed him?

Here is the real take. We don't really know. There was some kind of dissagreement between bell and the coaching staff. And mysteriously he was benched and was then listed with some kind of injury. Then something about the coaching staff inferring he was done for the season with still a few games left. He never came back.
He started so he wasn't half bad, but he never really found his shot like he had it the first time he was in Utah. His defense was average but at times he still moved very quickly. But one could see his age is catching up to him.
Yes I think he would be a great addition to any bench contending team. Great player I think if you only give him 15 minutes when it counts.
One has to wonder what Bell was so upset about. Anyone really know? He isn't a dumb rookie so there must be something to his point of view.

We're all glad to see him go. Raja has obviously worn out his welcome on the Jazz, but he realisitcally could still really contribute off the bench in limited minutes on the right team. He should never be a starter again and 10-12 minutes seems about right. He truley would cement Jazz fan hatred by joining the Lakers just like Fisher did when he left under less than perfect circumstances. Only Malone could make that move without Jazz fans totally lynching him.

Then again, if Raja pulls another close line of Kobe out of his bag (especially if they were on the same team) then Jazz nation might warm up to him again.

There has to be better replacement level players in the Dleague than Bell.

He's terrible. Just bad. I'm not sure he even has a single NBA level skill anymore.

And even worse than his skill level is his mind set that doesn't realize how much he has regressed.

Before getting into a shouting match with the coach Raja Bell started every game and played major minutes. So a sophomore coach who made the playoffs in his second year as a head coach, thought much more highly of Raja than several overly critical forum members.

That being said, there was a noticeable improvement to the team when both Raja and CJ stayed perpetually on the bench.

So, Corbin knew better than all the idiots and was correct to play Raja... that being said, the team was much better when Corbin was forced to not play Raja?

Yes NBA franchises, you too can have a starting 2 guard who averages 6 points a game and posts a whopping 8.3 PER.
