Royals DFA Jonathan Sanchez. Should Jays Pick him up?

Post#1 » by ThaFlash » Tue Jul 17, 2012 8:17 pm

That went well. “@Royals_Report: #Royals designate LHP Jonathan Sanchez for assignment.”

What do you guys think about Sanchez coming to Toronto? He had a decent season with the Giants two years ago. He can't be worse than some of the scrubs we threw out there

12 starts, 53IP, 7.4 bb/9, 11 hits/9, ERA+ is 53 , declining k rate.He isn't really an improvement over our current starters,

He still has the arm....he still at the point if he makes some tweaks hell be a very good pitcher. I wouldnt say hes overrated but theres a reason he gets the attention..when hes on hes flat out dominant.

Anyways with the way this rotation is its not like we can be chosers. Id hope they sign him and give him a stint in the minors to work some things out. We need arms.

Not really gettin this..your saying hes as bad as hes shown in 2012? Ill agree to disagree.

Anyhow a minor league deal wont hurt here. At point we had Drabek or JJ reyes starting.

I'm saying he's just plain bad. I really never got the Sanchez hype. I'd rather have Jesse Chavez starting games than Sanchez.

Poor poor KC. I wasn't a Sanchez fan, but I thought KC had finally pulled one off when they got him for Melky's (supposedly) fluke year. Figured he'd be a solid 4 type (whereas I figured Melky was no more than a nice 3/4 OF, where I've turned out quite wrong so far), but 12 starts, over 7.50 ERA (and an almost equivalent bb9), and he can't even go 5 innings? And we're actually asking if he's a pick-up? Holy hand grenade of Antioch Batman how much more does he have to do to prove he's got nothing right now?

Final thought is this: .937 opponent OPS and we'll be playing the AL East from here on out. Maybe he sorts himself out for next year and becomes some NL clubs mediocre 5th guy for another 3-5 years, but if you're the Jays you can't touch him with a 10 foot pole, and based on how messed up our rotation is that's saying something.
