Will the Heat be the best 3 point shooting team next season?

Post#1 » by TRG » Wed Jul 18, 2012 9:50 pm

Ray Allen
Shane Battier
Mario Chalmers
James Jones
Rashard Lewis
Mike Miller

That's an overwhelming total of 6 players that can consistently knock down the open 3. As long as we have at least one of these guys on the floor (or god forbid, 2-3 of them), opposing defenses will have a really hard time not leaving one of them open unless if they want to try to defend Wade and LeBron 1 v 1... Yeah good luck with that.

Even without Ray and Lewis our team was still a top 5 3 point shooting team last season. Will the Heat be THE top 3 point threat next season?

depends on injuries
i think we'll have less volume than a team like Golden State, but we'll be more efficient (~45%)

We should have at least 2 reps on @ the 3 point shootout during the All Star weekend.

Guys when Lebron was with Cleveland people would post things about how good the team was and people would jump on the jinx parade! We have the best player in the league in his prime with top 5 and another in the top 15. We have the greates shooter arguably In NBA history! We have a young coach who is growing up before our eyes! Well let's talk about expectations and celebrate a great team on this board! As we saw in the finals when our shooters are stroking we are a beautiful machine to watch! Let the excited fans of one of the most exciting teams in history enjoy ourselves as we speculate, celebrate and conversate about the mighty Heat! Yes we have an opportunity to be the best 3-point shooting team in history!!!!!

Sure, why not?

we were in the top 10 last year. Though it was because we were more efficient than really chucking them. At the end it was both. Just "letting it fly", and making the shots.

We now have the best 3 point shooter ever, if Lewis is on his game, we'd be even better.

We have always had our looks, it's just players not taking the shots OR players who shouldn't be taking 3's, were taking them.

Good point defense! I also think we will have ,ore transition and semi transition 3's with Ray and Rashard! Another thing is the better and deeper bench allows rest which will translate to less tired legs and better shooting in 4th quarter!

Agree especially with the bolded part. Compared to Riley and our players, Spolestra gets so little love from the fans and the media. Yet you will see NBA experts say how well coached The Heat are, apart from being loaded with talent.

Don't jinx it guys.

I'm not saying there will be one of these, but, when a 3 pt. sharpshooter joins the Miami Heat, they often go through stretches where we wonder if the Monstars stole this guys stroke, or if we can amnesty/trade him.

See Shane last season and Mike the last two seasons.

Maybe Ray will break the jinx and show the others the way? If Ray loses his stroke here, then I don't know what to say.

I think last season the compressed season stole a lot of our shooters legs for the second half of the season. I think we were a top 3 point shooting team before the all-star break. If we can do more of that this season, and get back to running--we'll make things easy on ourselves.

We have to wait and see if Ray Allen can come down here and shoot well in his 1st season with Miami.

It seems every 3pt shooter comes to Miami and sucks the 1st year
