Should Nash increase FTA?

Post#1 » by Josephpaul » Tue Sep 4, 2012 1:11 am

Last year Nash shot a career low FTA , with dwight , Pau , Kobe . Teams will have pick their poison , this leads more Nash more chances to shoot. Should the lakers give Nash around 900 FTA for the year? He could be our range as well with meeks.

900 ???

He only attempted 142 last season. But at the same time FTA are a skewed stat. He could see a lot more or it could get even less than last season.

Nash is going to have to shoot more period. If more FTA comes with that then its all good.

Not really necessary.

I mean Kobe and Nash can shoot the same amount of free throws that they took last year more or less, and not even take half the pounding to get them with the way Dwight puts teams in the penalty

Nash is going to look like the Nash of old with this type of help around him. Won't be 900 FT's but he's the biggest difference maker. Howard is the overall major pick up, but Nash will make the biggest difference imo

There's no reason for NAsh to try to get into the paint more to take the kind of shots that lead to FTA's. Why risk injury when he has such outstanding low post, high post, and wing players with him?

I think he will have plenty of scoring opportunities on the perimeter.

I seriously hope the Lakers Brass aren't sitting around talking about taking a stat out of thin air like FTA and creating an initiative for the season/offense around getting Nash to increase it...

I pray their smart enough to create a great offense and let nature take it's course as far as everyone's FTAs... Except Kobe... Use whatever stat you need to convince Mamba to take less and higher percentage shots...

Maybe explain to him that the real Black Mambas aren't actively predatory and that they mainly put themselves in an advantageous position for prey but then wait for their food to come to them... Let the game come to you Mamba... Let the game come to you...
