Greatest Laker of all time: Who is it?

Post#1 » by ShotimeLakers78 » Wed Sep 5, 2012 6:31 pm

For me it's Image Mr.Golden Throat himself.

Like many of you, I can recall listening to Chick throughout the years and who needed a television when you had him broadcasting the games. Chick represented the Lakers better than any one player.

What about for you?

Magic for now. Now that he's owning the dodgers in LA. I put more value on him. Before it was West, since he was in the office for a while also. If Kobe remains involved with LA after his retirement, then he'll be number 1. His accomplishments as a Laker rivals that of Magic.

Both on and off the court in the community and around LA. Magic has the lead.

I'd rather the Greatest Laker of all time be one who actually touched the court. I don't think you can commentate a team to a win.

Magic. Not only my favorite player and who made me like basketball, but his combination of accolades(3 MVP's/finals' MVP's, perennial all-star), team success (9 finals, 5 chips) and work in the community/organization ensure his rightful throne atop the Laker landscape.

Kobe will need more personal(unlikely) and team oriented(remains to be seen) accolades to even approach that threshold. Even if Kobe can somehow narrows the gap, the sheer artistry and aesthetic flair that Magic displayed can never be duplicated due to his uniqueness and approach to the game.
C'mon, you apes! You wanna live forever?

Kobe is better than magic hands down, magic wouldn't be as successful as he was in the current era of basketball. He would get pick pocketed everytime in today's game walking down the court, he honestly dribbled the ball like Ron artest. If Lebron was put to defend him, he would stand no chance because he wasn't a great shooter, had no post moves and was much smaller, slower and less athletic than players in today's era . Kobe Bryant is the best laker of all time hands down, he played for the lakers much longer and holds all the most meaningful records

I'm giving this one to magic in the present time, but Kobe could surpass him.

i say magic as well, nobody in nba history made his team better like magic did, in that he was the best at making his teammates better

1. kobe or magic (both have mvps, spent entire career in LA, beat boston, have won at least 5 championships)
2. which ever you dont chose for 1
3. kareem
4. jerry west
5. wilt

honorable mentions go to elgin, george mikan, and gail goodrich

I've seen Magic play. I've seen Kobe play.

Magic wins, hands down. Dude could do it all. Someone once said Magic could play at any of the five positions on the floor, AND be an all-star at each. And that's not an exaggeration.

Well that person lied, Magic could never be an allstar SG , SF , PF or center (most specifically the SG position)...common lets keep it real. I would love to see Magic Johnson playing against Dwight Howard or Shaq in his prime, lets keep it real guys this isnt the 80's anymore.
