Still in shock that Ramon Sessions opted out and basically got the same contract (although my years) he had here. I really think its a blessing he did because we got Nash but imagine if Sessions was our backup PG right now smh!!!!!!

There's more to the story with Sessions than fans don't know about. Maybe he didn't like his teammates? Maybe he didn't get agree with the coaching staff? Maybe he hated the fans? The media? The city?

he just got salty because

he was going to lose his starting spot and
Lakers didnt wan't to invest in him with a big long term contract..

Wish we had that 1st round pick back and drafted a young point

Sessions aint built for the playoffs, called it last year and caught flak for it. He's mentally soft, any type of pressure and he is invisible. Can't advance the ball, make a halfway decent post entry, shoot an open shot etc.

if we didn't make the Session trade we'd still have that turd Walton on this team, losing the 1st to dump him was well worth it and if we had kept the 1st I'm more then confident to say we would've given it up in the Howard trade instead of the future 1st.

i have a feeling, if we still had sessions on the books

his expiring contract woulve been used as a salary dump and we'd have taken back more salary in the dwight trade

sessions made the right decision, unfortunately lady luck screwed him over. in a perfect world sessions would have opted in and given the lakers a perfect back pg to nash.

in the real world though, sessions was looking at the last yr of guaranteed money, a lakers team that desperately needed him as their starting pg, and a lack of other realistic options for the lakers to replace him with. sadly for sessions, the lakers pulled a rabbit out of a hat and destroyed all of sessions' leverage by getting nash.

Had the Lakers kept Sessions and still managed to get Nash then I think our bench would have been right up there with the elite benches of the NBA. I've said this a lot in the off season and I'll say it again but I think the fans were too hard on him after we got bounced from the playoffs. From what I saw during his time here he provided the Lakers with a ton of energy and he was actually able to create for others, which is something that I believe our bench will need this season.
