"......But best of all, Lamb scored all 12 of his points in the second half and played the entire fourth quarter as part of a reserve group that rallied the Bucks to a 100-90 victory over the Bobcats on Thursday afternoon.
The Bucks (3-4) erased a 20-point third-quarter deficit helped by the defensive tandem of Larry Sanders and Ekpe Udoh, who ruled the paint and fueled the fast break.
They might not have silenced a screaming school-day audience at Time Warner Cable Arena, but the Bucks stopped a four-game skid.
Lamb had to sit and watch throughout training camp after suffering a left elbow injury during an informal workout in late September. But he practiced for the first time Wednesday and was cleared to play, even while wearing a brace on his left arm.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard was ready when his opportunity finally arrived.
"If you were going to bring a guy into his first NBA game, you would like it to be a better matchup than having to guard Ben Gordon," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said.
"Ben took advantage of him a couple times and pump-faked him. But then he (Lamb) settled down and was very good in the second half.
"He had some good looks from three as well, and if he had made a couple of those, he would have had a huge night. But overall he played very well."
Lamb was 6 of 11 from the field and scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, including the basket that put the Bucks ahead for good.
"It felt great just to be out there with my teammates," Lamb said. "I learned a lot from my veteran guys. They helped me through hard times when I was hurt.
"They gave me a lot of energy out there, and they helped me a lot on the court."
When Lamb finished the game with a sweeping hook to cap the Bucks victory, his teammates bounced off the bench to congratulate him.
Sanders said he already knew what Lamb could do after playing with him in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in July.
"He always does stuff out there that I'm amazed by," Sanders said. "I still get surprised by those sweeping hooks. He's really good at those.
"That's his shot; he does that. He just didn't throw that up there. That's a shot that he makes. We're looking forward to stuff like that."
Point guard Beno Udrih and Lamb played so well in the final quarter that Skiles never put starters Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings back in. The Bucks outscored the Bobcats, 28-11, in the final period.
"I was just reading the defense and just playing basketball, really," Lamb said.
Lamb picked up his fifth foul with 7:17 remaining but never did foul out.
"We just kept getting runs and kept going with it," Lamb said. "We just tried to get as many stops as we can."
Lamb laughed when asked about his conversation with Crawford, one of the league's most respected referees.
"I was just asking what I did wrong and he told me what I did wrong," Lamb said.
The only regret Lamb had was missing on those 3 three-point tries.
"It was my first game in a month," Lamb said. "I've got to go out there, get back in the gym and put a lot of shots up.
