Players to stay away from?

Post#1 » by thizznation » Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:40 pm

Does anyone have any players that people are drafting high that you personally wont draft? For me I won't touch Curry and his ankle, I can't trust him to play a majority of the season.

Curry
Lin
Derozan
Walker
Harrison
Martin
JJ
Griffin
Kobe
Howard
Gasol
Jennings
Ellis
GWallace
Brook Lopez
Stat
Bynum
Thomas/Brooks
AlJeff
Nene

Injuries, age, logjam and wack stats for their position or just not suitable for fantasy purposes.

Danny Granger (longterm knee pain)
Ty Lawson (drafted very high, but has Iggy as well as Miller to contend with this year)
Humphries (Crash is there to steal his rebounds and putbacks, Blatche will press him for playing time)
Evan Turner (not thriving in the preseason, Wright & Young are both better scorers)
Derrick Rose (might not see the court at all)
Millsap (Kanter and Favors stealing his minutes, same as Al Jeff)
MKG (being drafted too high for what he's shown so far & the minutes he's being given)
Henderson (was ok but limited last year, this year has Gordon and Sessions to steal his minutes)
Monta Ellis (not happy in Milwaukee, bad fit beside Jennings)
Jared Dudley (with two new scorers in the team - Beasley and Scola - replacing Frye and Hill, plus Dragic who looks for his own shot more than Nash did, I expect Dudley to often be the 5th option on offense)
Marcus Thornton (highly likely to be 6th man rather than starting, historically not a great bench player)
Trevor Ariza (not happy in Washington, Webster likely to steal his spot)

Referring to the list 3 posts up, why avoid Griffin? He should do the same as last year at the very least.

loot wrote:Curry - agree
Lin - agree
Derozan - good 9th/10th round pick. He will give you a lot of points, since he has a larger than last yr
Walker - agree
Harrison - dont know
Martin - just got traded...so i agree. If he was in houston, i disagree.
JJ - dont know
Griffin - are u kidding? he is double double machine. He will lower your ft% and increase your to. He will give you at least 18/8 or 22/10 on avg night
Kobe - ur kidding? Lakers have no efficient scorers besides the starters.
Howard - d12? ur kidding. see above...double double machine
Gasol - see above.
Jennings -DISAGREE. assists is lacking this season. Grab high assist players early this season! He will rack up points too. Steals too.
Ellis - kinda agree with you...his TO and fg% is going to fk ur team up badly.
GWallace - agree...he's disappointing. just my opinion
Brook Lopez - disgree. who else is going to grab boards? A good 4th-5th rd pick
Stat - lol agree. im a knick fan too
Bynum - dont know...very unpredictable
Thomas/Brooks - thomas - dont know. brooks i agree.
AlJeff - uhh...hes going to be gone 1st/2nd rd the latest. He will pad your stats across the board.
Nene - agree

Injuries, age, logjam and wack stats for their position or just not suitable for fantasy purposes.

good list. but i disagree with ty lawson, humphries and milsap.
milsap is going to have to prove something this year. He's gonna go hard.

Yes absolutely. I listed those three as on paper their situation could result in a decline on last year's stats, but they could well respond by putting in career years. I'd just rather someone else take the risk if there's safer prospects to draft ;)

All these players will get drafted too early.
loot wrote:Curry - ankles
Lin - not that good
Derozan - not a good fantasy player
Walker - low fg, too many to
Harrison - not a good fantasy player
Martin - decline
JJ - only a shooter now
Griffin - hurts in ft, to and will get overdrafted
Kobe - more scoring options, nash handling the ball more, less overall impact for kobe
Howard - gasol is a better rebounder than he had around him in orlando, more scorers on the team
Gasol - howards will demand touches and grab rebounds
Jennings - low fg, too many to
Ellis - low fg, too many to. will get traded though
GWallace - decline
Brook Lopez - im not touching a center who doesnt rebound well enough. someone will overdraft
Stat - someone will overdraft, game doesnt translate well to fantasy, injuries
Bynum - injuries, i doubt he'll play much this year
Thomas/Brooks - killing each other, maloofs like brooks
AlJeff - favors, kanter getting better
Nene - okafor, seraphin, booker all play, injuries

Injuries, age, logjam and wack stats for their position or just not suitable for fantasy purposes.
