Kobe is going Dirk/Nash - 50/40/90
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/110/kobe-bryant
I think his FT% dropped to 89.4% after the this game. But man, what a season so far.
Having watched all Laker games, rarely do I see him score on iso or postups nowadays. The only real difficult shot he is taking are those long threes.
Check this out: http://vorped.com/bball/index.php/playe ... 2-2013-REG
Compare it to last year: http://vorped.com/bball/index.php/playe ... 1-2012-REG
Here is the breakdown
Ratio of shots
10 games in vs 2011-2012 season
Paint shots: 51.6% (31.9%)
Midrange:: 25.2% (46.9%)
Long Range: 23% (21.1%)
In addition to that, even if he is shooting half of his shots in the paint, he was also able to decrease his mid range shots to just 25% now (and still shooting a lot better than last year in mid range).
So his percentages in almost all zones are up, but his effectiveness is further emphasised because he is getting to the paint more often. I think it is the Dwight Howard effect.

This is with him playing on the ball. Just watch what happens with the ball.

Re: Kobe's Shot Chart
Kobe is ridiculously efficient when he is playing off the ball. Right now his efficiency his tailing off a little bit (although still good), but when Nash comes back and Kobe goes back to playing off-ball, I expect his efficiency to rise like it did in the beginning of the season again. I think Kobe is a lot more decisive with the ball, and he's not settling much this season. This might be his most efficient season of his career, especially if Nash can stay healthy.

This
And I might add the difference between Bynum and Dwight is light years. Bynum just camped on the left block and stayed there. Dwight is mobile, can run the pick n roll and finish at the rim. Allows Kobe more space and a 2 bigs (including Gasol) who are efficient at running the Pick n Roll game

Re: Kobe's Shot Chart
"We're almost there," Howard said. "We're almost on the same page. I just tell Kobe, he's always going to attack but always just attack the basket and I'll try to clean up if you miss. We're just learning each other's game. It's going to take some time but we're doing the best we can."
"We just have to learn how to work together," Howard said. "Both of us want to score and dominate our opponents and we just have to find a way to do it together to throw the defense off, play games with them and we're getting better at it. We've only been together for a couple months, so, once we have this system down pat and the way we want to play with each other, we'll be fine."

Re: Kobe's Shot Chart
Not just the Dwight effect.. gotta give Kobe a lot of credit. He is playing incredibly smart. He is passing when he needs to, he is taking over when he needs to, he is driving in, he is taking good jumpers.. it's absurd.
And yes, Dwight frees him up a lot and helps him a load in the offense. But seeing Kobe play like this is amazing. Hope he keeps it up

biggest dif is hes not forcing anything as he did much in the past. Cant wait to see him play off the ball more with nash. Love that d17 brings it every night and not have to complain about ab anymore.

Last year he didn't have a PG or no bench and played like the 3rd highest MPG(I believe off the top of my head) of any player in the league. Teams were able to just load up on him and we were practically playing our best 3 players versus other teams full roster.

Kobe's been playing incredibly smart basketball. Efficient, sharp and successful.
I'm really surprised that it took him about 10 years to start making his living at the rim and not with contested 20-foot fadeaways, though.
