Blair down 25 pounds

DeJuan Blair has chosen to keep the media at arm’s length following the summer of his discontent, speaking in general terms about being in the best shape of his life but declining to offer specifics.

It took an inside job, from Spurs.com’s Ken Rodriguez, to prise the details from the suddenly svelte Blair – Down from 290 to 265 in weight and 44 to 4o in pants size. And he doesn’t plan on stopping there:

“My goal is to get to 250…I’m feeling a lot better about myself. I’m a lot quicker. I don’t get as tired running up and down the court.”

Interestingly, Blair said his fitness regimen began last spring, even as his playing time evaporated in the postseason. While rumors persist that he remains on the trading block, Blair said he’d be happy to continue his physical renovation where its started.

Kinda shocked that he was at 290 but the effects of the weight loss are really showing. If he keeps this up he might finally become the player a lot of us thought he would.

Nice. He does look more mobile out there and strong. Back in his rookie years, there was no way he could keep up with Carmelo and other small ball PFs. The one game I was surprised with really is the New York game where we defended Melo with Blair in the first quarter and he did very well. Right now, when it comes to playing small ball, Blair is probably our best option outside of actually playing Kawhi/Jax at PF.

Also, the rotation we have right now is good. Blair plays well with Duncan. Diaw with Splitter. Bonner plays that Steve Kerr role for us.
