Millsap to the 2nd Unit

Post#1 » by FJS » Tue Dec 4, 2012 6:55 pm

We have a problem.

We have 2 units who are really unbalanced.

In 1st unit we have several guys who can score with ease, but terrible deffenders.

In the 2nd, we have several guys who slow the other team, but they cannot score.

I think it's pretty obvious we have to mix them...

Starters
Jefferson - Favors - Carroll (marginal minutes) - Foye - Williams

Favors and Carroll are talented deffenders, Jefferson the guy to go, and then Foye and Williams are excellent shooters who can make space from Favors and Carroll. They are excellent offensive rebounders, for those 3's from Randy and Mo.

Bench

Kanter - Millsap - Williams - Hayward - Watson

Kanter, Williams, Hayward and Watson are good deffenders, and Paul, Marvin and Gordon will have a lot of more touches than playing with Al, Foye and Mo. I would play Tinsley over Watson, because I think he is a better distributor.

Millsap is loosing his touch starting. Hayward has to shoot to much in the 2nd unit. I think this is a lot of more balanced team.

I don't think we need to play Al and Millsap togheter, because they don't work.

Al/Millsap never worked, when one is up, the other is down. It's unfortunate, but luckily with Favors emergence, it's not that inconvenient anymore. I agree with your lineup, but I would probably start Williams instead of Carroll.

How frustrating is it when all us simple fans can so easily see what Corbin can't seem to wrap his brain around.

It makes sense if you ask me. Being thinking on this starting lineup for some time now. In addition, Favors and Carroll together can help to overcome frequent slow and unenergetic starts. Favors tend to fouls too much when he starts, but he should get over it in just a few games.

Well, in a perfect world, Millsap accepts his role on the bench, but if he doesn't? Corbin may be afraid to promote Favors while demoting Millsap.
