Write Ups

DEADLINE TO GET IN YOUR WRITE UP = 48 hours from this post.

get them posted before thread = locked

Make sure to post all pertinent info (THIS INCLUDES WHO YOU ADDED in Contraction Draft as being part of original roster) that will be rated on either a 1-5 or 1-10 point system. You will need to have all your financial info up to date for each season including team salary spent during each season.

MAKE SURE that ALL your roster info is COMPLETELY up to date.

RATING SYSTEM

Rating system will be based on points, low points = worst/high points = best

IF teams are tight at the top or bottom then use your best judgement as more than one team can have best/worst score.
IF one team stands above all others in a particular category then they should be the only one to receive the highest score.
IF one team is worse than all others in a particular category then they should be the only one to receive the lowest score.

CATEGORIES

1. Talent improvement from original roster to final roster (1-10)
2. Coaching (1-5)
3. Money management (were the financial risks worth the reward)(1-5)

Need more info..? Detroit Pistons Roster Page

Image

We nabbed LeBron with the 2nd pick in contraction draft and then basically turned...

Bron/Knight + rest of unwanted Pistons parts into...

Westbrook/Davis/Batum/Mitchell/Smart/Goodwin/Robinson/#5, #7, #10, #17 2014 1sts/2015-17 PDX 1sts/2017 PHI 1st and the expiring contracts of Bayless/Brown/Amir/Hawes/Green.

We did all this all while finishing with our 2 best original starting assets in Monroe/Drummond still on the team.

Getting LeBron at 2 was our 1st steal of the game as he should have went 1st.

That was HUGE but alas LeBron did not fit our long term plans nor did we feel he would stick around any longer than he was contractually obligated to. With him having the abilty to opt out in 2014 we felt it was in our best interests to get as much as we could for him before it was too late. We saw what happened with The Decision and what happened with The Dwight Fiasco. We learned from these mishaps and were proactive in our choices.

Here is how things sort out according to the categories...

1. Talent improvement from original roster to final roster (1-10)

As spelled out above... we made a HUGE improvement across the board in terms of talent. We have exceptional defense from top to bottom and are absolutely loaded with young talented players/assets.

Starting Assets...

Knight/Bynum
Singler/Stuckey/Lamb/English
LeBron/Prince/Maggette/Middleton/Daye
Maxiell/Jarebko/CV
Monroe/Drummond/Kravstov

2014-17 1sts (2013 was traded to Cats in RL)/2013/2017 2nds

plus $6mil owed to Rip for not being there :p

Final Assets...

Westbrook/Smart/Carter-Williams/Bayless(exp)
Batum/Goodwin/Brown(exp)/Green(ung)
Mitchell/Robinson
Davis/Amir(exp)
Monroe/Drummond/Hawes(exp)

#5, #7, #10, #17 in 2014 draft - All our own and PDX 2015-17 1sts plus PHI 2017 1st and all our 2nd round picks

All that plus a $30mil cut in team salary to boot.

We believe we maximized what we had and are deserving of a top score in this category.

2. Coaching (1-5)

Gregg Popovich - best coach in this game. He will lead us on both sides of the ball and playing like a team. We expect Titles in a couple of years time and with the talent we have we have no doubt Pops will make it happen. We also nabbed Hakeem which is not only a huge boon to our team but also hindered off season development of many players from opposing teams that relied on him to help with their post game moves.

The rest of the coaching staff are Red, White, and Blue Piston greats and all have their part to play. Big Ben and Bill Laimbeer will help in training both physically and mentally. Ben will help out Arnie Kander and Mike Abdnour in getting the guys in great shape while also helping with the intracicies of defense. Bill will teach players how best to get into the heads of the opponent and use it to our advantage. Isiah and Joe D will help out with back court development and player scouting. Sam Presti will be our main talent scout and help with running the financial end of things.

This is a no brainer in our opinion as a score of maximum 5 out of 5.

3. Money management (were the financial risks worth the reward)(1-5)

We took over a team that had Rip on the books for $6mil, CV, and an older venue. We wanted to have a fresh start for this franchise so we built a state of the art Arena on the banks of the Detroit River in downtown Detroit. No expense was spared. We spent a lot of money on this but it will ALL be earned back and more within another 3-5 years. After that we will be raking in a lot of extra cash in comparison to the rest of the league as a result of this arena and what are sure to be deep playoff runs. The older teams will be to the point of decline while we are gelling as the new powerhouse of the league. Yes we will be raking in loot hand over fist.

Our team salary was at $80mil after the contraction draft and we set out to trim the fat. We did just that and became one of only 5 teams in 12/13 that was under lux tax. As a result we had a rather large payday of $121,803,629 sent our way by the less frugal owners. We are also under the lux tax (and salary cap) for 13/14 and have collected $49,271,846 more thanks to the heavy spenders. Out of 24 teams in the league we are one of only 4 to earn lux tax money in both seasons of the game.

We feel a 5 is the right score here.

4. Future profitability (will the team earn a lot or lose a lot)(1-5)

Stacked with great contracts and even better players playing in a brand new state of the art arena with the best coaching staff leading the way... We are financially set. We expect to earn all the Arena money back and turn a huge profit as well during the next decade. We are set to make many deep playoff runs and hopefully nab a few Titles during that time as well. The older teams will start to fall by the wayside right as we are turning into a Juggernaut. Detroit Roc City Arena will pay huge dividends as will our higher and higher TV payout each successive season.

Money will be rolling in and with the assets we have... We can continually improve and keep the product on the floor top notch.

Yes we will be making serious bank... 5/5

5. How bright is the team's future in terms of talent and possible title chances(1-10)

End of season 2014... our players ages are in parentheses

Westbrook(25)/Smart(20)/Carter-Williams(20)
Batum(25)/Goodwin(19)
Mitchell(24)/Robinson(20)
Davis(21)
Monroe(24)/Drummond(20)

Average age = 22 until 2014 draft lowers it even further as we have 4 1st rounders (#5, #7, #10, #17) and a 2nd (#34) to fill out our roster with. We also own all our own and PDX 2015-17 1sts and PHI 2017 1st so will be able to keep the talent level at an insanely high level.

This one is another no brainer in our opinion. We are incredibly stacked from top to bottom and have so many great assets that we can do what needs to be done to ensure we have the best chance at Titles year in and year out. As mentioned before... the coaching staff are the best in the game bar none and will play a huge part in molding this team into a powerhouse and perennial winner. We just had our 1st taste of the playoffs with our young guys and now that they have been there they will only get better and go further as they grow together.

Unlike other really young teams with good talent... we have exceptional talent with multiple players that have superstar potential. This team will be scary as they grow and learn together. Watch out League.

Another top score here in our opinion.

6. Draft picks how did team draft and how will future picks look(1-10)

We nailed our draft big time and are stocked with lesser teams draft picks for the future. We grabbed Archie Goodwin in the 1st round of the 2013 draft then followed that with perhaps the biggest steal of the draft by landing Marcus Smart in the 2nd round. He jumped all the way up to 4 on draftnet recently. We also signed undrafted Glenn Robinson III who has been shooting up the draft board and project PG Carter-Williams. To top things off indirectly... we landed the rights to Tony Mitchell and Cody Zeller and signed them to NBA contracts.

Our future picks look pretty good as well thanks to adding MIL 2014(#5), WWW 2014(#7) PDX 2014(#17)-2017, and PHI 2017 1sts to go with all our own picks (including #10 in 2014) which we still have. Yes, we have 4 2014 1st round picks (5,7,10,17) which should be enough to make a move up to the #1 pick to nab Andrew Wiggins if we want.

We started out with NO pick in 2013 thanks to Joe D trading it away in real life. We also got that pick back and is the one we used to draft Archie Goodwin. Over all We did a damn fine job in this area. We feel that we have set ourselves up for excellent sustainability and the future looks very bright indeed.

yea, we nailed this cat

7. Team Offense/Defense (1-5 on each then total them up)

Should not even need to go into much explanation here. We have incredible talent that can excel on both ends of the floor and the best coaches in the league to make that happen. This team was handpicked to fit together like pieces of a puzzle and the result is everything we had hoped for.

In part thanks to our incredible length, speed, athleticism we have great on and off the ball defense from top to bottom. You want shot blocking, steals, charges taken, rebounds, etc... we got it covered. You want the best coaching... we have that to.

Our offense also benefits from the same attributes as our D. Add to that the excellent 3 point shooting on the wings', exceptional penetration ability from our guards, and bigs who can finish inside or take you outside a bit... yeah offense will not be an issue. And again, like our D... take the coaching into consideration as well and you see just how interesting this team is.

5/5 & 5/5 easy peasy in our opinion

8. Durability (How healthy is and does your team project to be)

Only Issue at all is A Davis, the rest have been healthy as can be. We have a top 2 med staff on this team and great trainers as well.

5/5

9. Chemistry (Excessive player movement, team stability, experience winning or growing towards that end, etc) (1-5 on each then total them up)

Compared to the rest of the league... our team is pretty damn stable without excessive player swaps. We built a team that is pretty unselfish and handpicked to fit together perfectly. We hired the best of the best staff to help our great young players grow as a TEAM. We expect to see great camaraderie here as the team becomes a force to be reckoned with.

5/5

10 Playoff runs from 2012/13- 2013/14 (1-10)

This is easily our weak spot. We barely missed the playoffs in 2013 thanks to an injured Rose and young team. We made the 2014 playoffs and gave the battle tested Knicks a run for their money. We didn't win the series but we looked pretty good for our 1st test with our young team. We will be back and only go further and further as we continue to grow and learn together.

Write Up (Short and Sweet):

I drafted Kobe Bryant and Tiago Splitter in the contraction draft.

1. Talent improvement from original roster to final roster (1-10)

This is a simple 10 from everyone, (Don't mean to sound cocky). Went from a team who won the first pick, to a team who won back to back title.

Drafted Kobe, and Splitter mean i basically turned Anthony Davis / Austin Rivers / Ryan Anderson / Greivis Vasquez into Deron Williams / Dirk Nowitzki / Chris Bosh / and a very solid bench.

2. Coaching (1-5)

You could argue everyone does good in this category. I feel I had the right coaching for my team, and we won back to back titles because of it.

This should prolly be a 4 or 5

3. Money management (were the financial risks worth the reward)(1-5)

Well, to win you gotta spend. I feel the money I spent on trades and players was all worth it. I wont 2 titles because of it. I was pretty damn close to what every championship team pays on a regular basis.

5. simple. spend to win, i won, so it was worth it.

4. Future profitability (will the team earn a lot or lose a lot)(1-5)

I made our Logo's / Jerseys' / ECT alot more sellable. I did win back to back titles, so this should help our sales. I didnt move to a new arena, due to lack of knowledge on the subject. I think winning = titles = revenue.

5. How bright is the team's future in terms of talent and possible title chances(1-10)

We have a one year windo left, after winning the title in 2012/2013 - 2013/2014. We would have enough cap space to sign a max free agent to pair with Deron / Bosh / Blatche (Yes i count him in my future) or Resign KObe / Dirk or both depending on how much KObe / Dirk would resign for. I still feel no matter what, a team of Deron / Bosh / Blatche is making the playoffs with no other impact players on the team.

8 / 9 at the worst.

6. Draft picks - How did the team draft and how will future picks look(1-10)

I traded my 2013 / 2014 / 2015 first round draft picks. Most title contending teams trade their picks anyways. I didnt not trade my 2016 / 2017 firsts due to know taht my players were older. I DID NOT MORTGAGE MY OWN TEAMS DRAFT PICKS.

THis cannot affect my drafting talent that much. The firsts I traded were the last 2 picks in the first round, both years.

IMO I should still rank fairly high in this category.

7. Team Offense/Defense (1-5 on each then total them up)

I won back to back titles. I had the best offensive team each year, and a solid enough defensive one each year.

5 and 5.

8. Durability (How healthy is/does your team project to be) (1-5)
We won back to back titles, so we must have been durable????
5?
LOL

9. Chemistry (Excessive player movement, team stability, experience winning or growing towards that end, etc) (1-5 )

Againt, we grew as a team, and won back to back titles as a team, so this has to be a 5 and 5.

10 Playoff runs from 2012/13- 2013/14 (1-10)

I could answer these questions with the same answer just about every time.
WE WON BACK TO BACK TITLES. THIS HAS TO BE A 10 : )

Conclusion.

We feel we finished the game with 4 Superstars, won back to back titles, pissed off some people, (didnt mean too), but had alot of fun through out the entire game..... We feel this is finally our time to win one of these games pretty handedly.

Im pretty sure my team name is mentioned in over half the write up's, so that must be a good thing right??? : ) ; )

Special Thanks to Riot / ICe / Roc - you guys made it happen

Also, to ALL the GM's who stayed active and updated your roster and finished this one out. GREAT WORK BOYS! and good luck with future games.

Our team was in a nice position until the off-season, when we made a huge gamble/trade with DAL that sent out entire back-court for LMA. We took this risk, hoping we could get our guards in free agency. Thou we were CRAZY far under the cap, that did not happen. Most quality free agents were matched or maxed, just to be traded away for future value... the real NBA is not like this! My team was forced to "blow-it-up" just to balance out our roster into multiple positions. After that, we had the hardest time improving, because most rosters(superstars) were set. The real contenders were already set in stone.

...We still had a very good, under-rated team. Defensively we woulda been a tough match-up for anyone in the league. Deng & Noah are both having the best seasons of their NBA careers, as well, as Hendo. Millsap is a "double-double" warrior who does his job every single night. Nash is still one of the best floor leaders in the entire NBA & makes everyone else around him better. The bench is full of solid defenders(Stiemsma, Fields, Dre, & Maxiell), we got energy(Nate Robinson), & a very good scoring 6th-man(Rip).

I really wish I could have started with the orginal Nets but I took over this team half-way thru the game. It was an "overpaid-unbalanced-mess" but I enjoyed trying to fix it(thou still overpaid). I like the overall fit of the players I have now and feel they are underated based on the lack of star power. I honestly feel like this team would be almost impossible to beat in a 7-game series because the would defend & out-rebound every other single team in the league. I did feel the Knicks were the #1 overall team, therefore I respect losing to them in the playoffs, but my Nets had better "D", Depth, & Rebounding than the Jesters & Cavs. We woulda gave em hell in a real NBA series. Both had awesome starters but zero depth. Injuries are a real part of the game & both Finals teams were an injury or two away from .500(ala real LAL/Bulls)

All three mention teams above showed very little activity in season two & already had their respected stars in place, before I adopted the BK Nets. Point being, I had the bigger challenge. The end.

The Cavs aren't a good team. They had some young talent in Kyrie and Varejao, whose having a nice season. Despite both of these things they will still be making a top 5 pick next year. Since I have taken over they have turned into a perennial champion contender for the next 5 years. A CP3 + Dwight Howard core is about as strong as any as you will find in this league. We also have they pieces around them for them to succeed.

In the two seasons we've played I made it to the ECF in my first year and the NBA Finals in my 2nd. I took a risk trading for Paul and drafting Howard with them both being FAs at the end of the season. It worked out and they'll now be Cavs for the next half decade or exactly when both will be in their primes.

So when I picked my team I decided that I would build the team around Kevin Love who I believe to be a perennial all star. With the first season I was able to put together a big 3 of Eric Gordon, Danny Granger, and Kevin Love to go along with Darren Collison and Nik Pekovic in the starting lineup, with a pretty solid bench. I was able to do this with a payroll of around $69Mil, and made the playoffs losing a tough 4-3 opening series to Florida. After this first year the team suffered a net loss, and knew 1 of 2 things had to happen, further improvement in the team to make it further in our quest to a championship or cut payroll to below $55Mil.

I did neither…

Feedback I got after the first season was to improve at the point guard position. I made a couple of fundamental mistakes trading Granger, and Gordon and not getting back a top PG in return. I ended up taking quantity or quality, thinking I could still pick up a quality PG but this was not the case. It ended up being a lot harder than I thought going after top 7 or 8 PG, and decided to go with youth with Collison and Vasques who both are having pretty good seasons.

Payroll remained pretty much the same; however my team was not ranked as well as in the previous year which is pretty understandable. However, I believe I do have one of the best front courts in the league with Love, Asik, and Kaman all locked up for a couple more years. Also I was able to clear up a lot of cap space for this upcoming off-season however I do have many wholes to plug as well as a couple of key players that I would like to re-sign in Evan Turner, and Carl Landry. In our fantasy off-season we would go out looking for an upgrade at the PG position mainly, and see if we could get an upgrade at the SF position and keep Young as our 6th man off the bench. We would not be looking to go anywhere near the luxury tax for the next few seasons until we believe we are at a point where we can contend for an NBA Championship. We also did keep our draft pick for this upcoming season and believe we can net a pretty good lottery talent perhaps we can draft Canadian Andrew Wiggins and bring him to Vancouver (would be awesome for him to play in a CDN city).

Made no changes to Coaching staff as top talent was nabbed pretty quickly, and Adelman is a pretty good coach. In terms of the assistants could not justify the HR costs associated with hiring/firing.

However, we can justify the costs associated with moving and renaming the team. Moving the team was a no-brainer as Vancouver>Minnesota, and with the new team name we have attracted a unique fan base that all of our concessions staff love..

Lastly thank you to all the commissioners and posters who helped put this game together, not an easy job to do but you guys made this game enjoyable.

BTW Love is still not on the Block.

We went from a lower tier team w/ PG Jameer Nelson as the headline player (Orlando Magic) w/ little hope of being a serious team w/ in a 3yr time frame that HAD to sale tickets & hope to the city of Orlando by placing it on the risk of getting a high draft pick in 2013 from a not so promising draft featuring players we weren't believing would be a franchise changing player so we risked it all on taking on high contract proven young NBA talent and have gotten an exciting franchise SG in James Harden, a true NBA C in Brook Lopez, and a young PF/C Bismack Biyombo who has stellar/ elite defensive potential written all over him, a blueprint for an elite championship team.

We gained a very steady, top tier PG in Mike Conley, a scoring dynamo off the bench who is truly a starter in Monta Ellis, a tough defensive and scoring SF in Danny Granger, a top shelf young SG in MarShon Brooks, and successfully took a chance on a C in Greg Oden who had elite HOF potential type talent prior to his injuries that we believed was brought back to form by trainer Steve Hess.

We brought in a HOF coaching staff in Larry Brown and Mike D'Antoni to bring credibility to our franchise and city making us an organization that vows not to lose franchise players due to organizational shortcomings which started at the head, the team owner/ GM who had promised player Mike Conley he would not be traded (as we received numerous offers for him) due to us landing his former OSU teammate and friend Greg Oden as a display of loyalty and also because of the past chemistry they had which we felt would bring success to our organization.

All in all despite the huge financial setbacks from year to year we know we've built a team that will definitely build off our playoff experience and into contender for years 3 and beyond due to the genius of HC Larry Brown.

LVJ:

We took a gamble in FA with a great setup of LBJ/Afflalo and enough for 2 max contracts in las vegas with plenty of sponsorship opportunity and it DEFINITELY had enough lights to compete with NYC among any other city in the US. Our risks didn't really pan out as we only got manu and al jefferson, but turned that into felton, josh smith, marcin gortat, ray allen, enes kanter (bright), and some vets.

we lost most of our picks escept for WWW 2017 1st and LVJ 2017 first.

Coach: Magic Johnson
GM: Mitch Kutchpak

Future:Trey Burke, Enes Kanter, Jeff Taylor, Draymond Green; LBJ/JSmoove may be still around

Starting Roster (no playoffs):
Rose/Jimmer/Brooks
Evans/Sefalosha/Garcia
Salmons/Outlaw
Robinson/Thompson
Cousins/Hayes

Final Roster:
Felton/Calderon/Selby
Afflalo/Allen/Burke
James/Stackhouse/Taylor
Smith/Evans/Draymond Green
Gortat/Kanter/Diaw

Note: I had Rose/Gallo/LMA/Marc at one point (all that from cousins, robinson, and evans + filler), but went to go with Felton/Afflalo/LBJ/Smoove/Gortat...i think getting the best player in the game is prob one of the toughest moves.

Writeup:

Gonna be a short one this time boys.

First I have the best front court in the NBA. LMA is a top 3 PF at worst (Love's impact is overrated and Dirk isn't exactly, you know, playing). Gasol is one of the top centers in the league, if not the best this year. He's easily the best passing center, a good scorer and rebounder (yes, rebounder. Raw stats are dumb, the team actually produces a 3.4% higher TRB% when he is on the floor. Its not about who gets the rebounds (usually ends up to be ZBo on the RL Grizz) its about boxing out and making sure your team gets the rebound).

Complementing them is the best perimeter complement to a great post there is. Kevin Martin. He's basically a super floor spacer who can also get hot and drop 20+ on anyone anytime. Then I have my PG in Ty Lawson, a top 10 PG in the league, pretty much above average in every category, from passing to shooting to scoring, ect. Rock solid.

Depth is also good. Haywood is a legit 7/7 this year. Collison is always one of the best backups, and is putting up like 8/5 or something this year. Brandon Wright is a freaking monster, 9/3 on 64 TS% as a starter. Adonis Thomas is a great defender/slasher, and is a decent shooter as well (mentioned it in my playoff writeup). Dunleavy is god, so he's good to have on any team, and SJax, Neal and Roy all provide a bit different things to add to my bench.

Last note: My team was voted one of the highest valued teams, and I got CRAP from the draft (Battier and Collison). A fair amount of teams got superstars (LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Durant, Harden, Westbrook, Rose ect) or all-star caliber players (Deng, Noah, Parker, Hibbert, Pau, Duncan ect). Again, I got 2 role players who in a contracted league shouldn't be anything more than backups. I think I did very well considering that.

Thanks a TON to Riot and BI for running this, I know how much it takes, but OaT prolly takes more (figuring out the lux tax for everyone seems like a torture device (and I like math haha)), so I'm very thankful that they did it and that they did it well.

Conclusion:

I had bad luck getting only #20 and Steve Nash + having a crippled Bynum (got good return though) + trading Holiday and Turner and Young at the beginning of the game, when they weren't so good (got good return though)...

But I think I have a better team right now than the current 76ers + I got a lot of players from Philly!

Lowry/Pargo > Holiday/Wayns

Lowry is like Holiday. Good defender + all-around PG, but he's from Philly....lol. + I got Pargo who's a good shooter + athlet and he played well as Cavs starter

Evans/Foye > Richardson/Young

Evans is way better than JRich + Young and JRich is a bad contract that I moved. Foye is one of the best shooters in the NBA and has impressive stats in his 20 minutes.

MKG/Leonard/Crowder > Turner/Wright

I got two of the best prospects at SF and they are defensive studs.

Jefferson/Morris1/Morris2/Moultrie > Young/Moultrie

AlJeff is a beast (and on ini-amnestied contract) + I got the twins from Philly together on one team and Markieff is playin well lately. Exactly what the current 76ers team would need.

Favors/Haslem/Allen > no Bynum/Allen/Hawes

Favors will be a monster, book it + he's on a mini-amnestied contract nd will stay cheap for us. Haslem is a great rebounder coming off the bench. That's better than waiting for Bynum who will leave in 2013.

so I upgraded at every position, moved every ba contract, gained capspace, have a young team, have players from philly.... show me love.

Brief Write-Up

24 hours. That's basically all I had, to inject some kind of direction into this team. The previous GM disappeared sometime around free agency therefore all free agents were lost, giving a distinctly weak front court and unclear direction - and of course, a lack of assets to work with. The team as constructed, was likely to be a 30-40 win team - not terrible, but not good enough, and with not enough upside. So I maximised the value of my assets - Gortat, Williams, Mayo, bringing in some great prospects in Cody Zeller, Alex Len, and some defensive complimentary pieces in Avery Bradley and Taj Gibson; and of course the highly marketable Jeremy Lin.

Short term, the team will struggle to score, but will play aggressive defensively (particularly cutting the passing lanes) and with a huge amount of upside. The outcome? A top 5 pick next year (a scorer), a world class point guard, a pair of center prospects with All Star upside. The future's bright.

Key points:

- added two top 5 lotto picks (Zeller, Len), added future picks, positioned myself for #2 pick in 2014 draft
- huge amounts of financial flexibility, 3rd lowest payroll in the league
- profitable basketball club as currently constructed
- huge upside
- great defensive core
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Roster Breakdown

Point Guard
Derrick Rose / Eric Maynor / Rodrigue Beaubois v Tony Parker/Damian Lillard / Nolan Smith / Ronnie Price

When I started this game, Damian Lillard hadn't played any significant minutes at the point guard position in the NBA. And while he's been a great rookie, his value isn't as high as it was before. I managed to turn him into the #2 PG in the NBA in Derrick Rose. Rose is going to be completely healthy by the start of the 2013 season and should be amongst the best NBA players. But the backup PG situation is where the real key is. Nolan Smith is nice, but Eric Maynor is one of the premier backup PG and even Rodrigue Beabuois offers more value than Nolan Smith.

Shooting Guard
Marcus Thornton / Louis Williams / Jeremy Lamb / Kim English > Wesley Matthews / Elliot Williams / Sasha Pavlovic / Will Barton

While we might have taken a slight downgrade at the starting shooting guard spot, the depth is much, much better. Louis Williams is one of the best sixth men in the league and adds some instant scoring off the bench. And then we have Jeremy Lamb as the future starting shooting guard once Marcus Thornton's contract comes off the books. I think he's got star potential if his shoulders can remain healthy.

Small Forward
Jared Dudley / Trevor Ariza / Victor Claver > Nicolas Batum / Luke Babbitt / Jared Jeffries

Much like the shooting guard spot, this might seem like a small downgrade at the starter but it's a BIG upgrade at the backup small forward. The Blazers have no depth here in RL, and while Ariza isn't a great shooter he's a good team defender and a huge expiring contract which gives the Blazers even more flexibility.

Power Forward
Blake Griffin / Michael Beasley > LaMarcus Aldridge /Jordan Hill/Victor Claver

Again, better depth means an upgrade at the power forward spot. And more importantly, Blake Griffin fits with what the Blazers want to do. Unlike LMA whose probably more suited for a half court offense. Michael Beasley is immensely talented and a big improvement over Victor Claver.

Center
JaVale McGee / Jordan Hill >> J.J. Hickson / Meyers Leonard / Joel Freeland

A pretty underrated improvement here. McGee is worlds better than anything than the RL Blazers have at center and I'd go so far as to say Jordan Hill is as well. And more importantly, they have a shot blocker next to Blake Griffin which is what you need.

Coaching Breakdown
Head Coach: Byron Scott

Byron Scott might be one of the more underrated coaches in the NBA doing miracles with a pretty thing Hornets roster. He's the perfect guy and a great players' coach. He'll lead them to the Finals no doubt.

Money Management
Paul Allen is one of the most wealthy people in the world. He's got no issues paying for a winning product, which is exactly what the Blazers are. Not to mention, I've been extremely cautious in terms of keeping a relatively low payroll.

Future Profitability
The franchises young stars (Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin) are locked up for the foreseeable future, and when younger core players (Jared Dudley, Jeremy Lamb, etc.) are all ready for new contracts, we've got plenty of expiring contracts (Michael Beasley, Trevor Ariza, etc.) to accommodate the new deals.

Future
Our starting line up right now averages 24.6 years old with Jared Dudley being the elder statesmen at 27 years old. Our key depth Eric Maynor, Louis Williams, and Jordan Hill average 25.3 years old. This team could conceivably contend for the title for the next decade.

Draft Picks
Let's be honest, this Blazers team is going to be picking in the latter third of the draft for several years to come to the point where the first round picks become more of a hassle than a good thing since they come with guaranteed contracts. We've got plenty of second round picks to take fliers on some role players.

Offense/Defense/Chemistry
Offensively, this team is long and athletic and is going to push the pace but also able to play in the half court with excellent shooters based around dribble penetration. Defensively, Jared Dudley is a great defender and McGee is a really good shotblocker.

Why I Deserve To Win
Let's be honest, when looking at what I started with and what I ended with there isn't a team that has the perfect fit of players and not a talent level issue. In the contraction draft, I was given the 11th pick and all of the elite players were off the board so I had to take Tony Parker, BPA. And then in the second round, I took Jordan Hill. This team is a near perfect fit offensively with plenty of shooters and athletes around Derrick Rose. Remember, Derrick Rose took a Bulls team and made them a 62-20 record whose best players aside from Derrick were Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, and Joakim Noah. The Blazers are better at or equal at every position. And they're depth is considerably better.

Me roster on de roster page. Dis fo da writeup.

Dallas Roster Page

Started with Dallas Roster + Deng (1st round) and Mahimni (2nd round)

Talent Improvement
We started out with Dirk/Deng and a very meh roster. Mayo didn't have much value starting off and the rest was hot garbage imo. Dirk was aging and injuried, Deng is a complimentary player, not a go to guy, and again Mayo was seen as a nice 6th man.

I turned that into a team that made it to the WCF that took the Jesters, the best win now team in the league to 7 games. Oh, and my team is quite young.

Age (RL):

Jennings - 23
Iggy - 28
Gallo - 24
Horford - 26
Bynum - 25

Move ages a year up for in game. I have THE preeminent frontcourt in the league and Gallo/Horford/Bynum aren't even at their peaks yet. Iggy is my vet and he's under 30, Jennings is still a baby.

Look at the roster for a second, Horford at his age isn't that far off from Dirk value wise. Remember Horford is 17/10/3 on 55% and elite defense. Bynum is our wildcard, when healthy (and he should be given a year of rehab) he is the #2 big in the league. We have Gasol as insurance for when Bynum is out.

Coaching
We didn't make changes to coaching and honestly, why would we. Dallas has an elite coaching staff headed by a championship HC in Carlisle. Sometimes less is more. Yes. I just said that.

Money management
Um, honestly I built a contender for under 80M. Gasol is exp and we can resign him on the cheap hopefully and depending on the contract given I'll be under the lux tax. Pretty good considering what we have.

Future profitability

I have a contender, a serious championship contender year in, year out. We are young, and the core is locked up. The Jesters will age and we will quietly take our place as the best team in the West.

Team Offense/Defense
Inside out. Put the rock inside, kick to shooters, Iggy/Jennings run plays and double post all day long.

Man D, heavy on the ball with the bigs helping when penetration occurs.

Durability
Bynum = not dat durable. I have Gasol as insurance though, so I took that into account. Outside of that, we're pretty good in this cat.

Chemistry
We just went to the WCF, I think our chemistry is cool.

Playoff runs from 2012/13- 2013/14
2012-2013: 1st round exit
2013-2014: WCF

Thanks ya'll for playing, me and Riot did our best and we hope you enjoyed yourselves. Special thanks to rOc who did a lot of work behind the scenes that goes unnoticed.

WRITE-UP:

Talent Improvement:
We feel like we upgraded every single position in our starting lineup, 1-5... Plus we have assembled the best bench in the NBA.
Holiday >>> Lawson, Mayo > Iggy, PG >/= Gallo, Lee >>> Faried, Hibbert >> McGee
Bench: Kemba Walker / Jason Terry / Danny Green / Carlos Boozer / Kevin Seraphin
The old Nuggets team had talent, but it was bad fits. Lawson was regressing, Iggy was just okay, Gallo was promising but not a potential star, Faried was a fun hustle guy but nothing special and McGee is the biggest knucklehead in the league. We swapped that out by bringing in two guys that are absolutely ON FIRE in Jrue Holiday and O.J. Mayo, a young stud who is starting to put it all together in Paul George, a veteran anchor who has been killing it in David Lee and a defensive force who will get out of his slump and be a franchise C in Roy Hibbert.

Coaching:
We decided to assemble a young team and a fresh, young coaching staff. Brian Shaw is the best assistant coach in the business and brings a fire to my young team. He will be crucial in the development of my guards/wings (Jrue, Mayo, George) and will bring Phil Jackson's triangle offense back to the big stage. We have a great staff of assistants starting with the defensive guru Nate McMillian and ending with HoF center Alonzo Mourning (who will get the best out of Hibbert).

Money Management:
We admit that the first fiscal year did not go as planned. We spent money relocating the team and renovating Riot Gardens in Kansas City to become the Bombers, which was expected losses to lead to future gains. We had hoped to go further into the playoffs to justify our high payroll, which didn't pan out. Where I argue we did a nice job, is by improving our talent and future outlook in the 2nd fiscal year WHILE ALSO shedding $30M in player salary.

Future profitability
We have ignited our broad fanbase with our consistently great regular season records in the West, our two consecutive playoff appearances, our young core of talent, our exciting brand of basketball and our new state of the art facility with tons of amenities to make for a great experience. Our team will do nothing but get better as they grow together, and Kansas City sports fans are some of the most desperate fans for success in the nation.

How bright is the team's future in terms of talent and possible title chances
Our bright future speaks for itself. Jrue is a rising star in the NBA, and looking like a Top 3-5 PG in the league (22 years old). O.J. Mayo has been on fire this year, finally living up to the hype and becoming a surefire star (25 years old). Paul George has the skills to be the next Tracy McGrady and has shown consistent flashes of reaching that potential this year, he will be our biggest star soon (22 years old). David Lee is our "old veteran" and he is playing the best ball of his career-- he is our heart and soul (29 years old). Roy Hibbert is one of the premiere franchise 7+footers in the NBA and will be our defensive anchor for years (25 years old). We have young dynamic players off our bench like Kemba Walker (22 years old), Danny Green (25 years old) and Kevin Seraphin (23 years old). Watch out for the Bombers.

Draft picks - How did the team draft and how will future picks look
We have all of our future picks intact as well as some extra 2nds. We acquired a plethora of extra 1sts, but opted to trade them for player upgrades.

Team Offense/Defense
We have some excellent two-way players in Holiday, George, Hibbert, Green and Serphin. We have some fantastic offensive minded players in Mayo, Lee, Kemba, Terry and Boozer. We have a top-notch offensive coach in Brain Shaw and a top-notch defensive coach in Nate McMillian. We will be balanced.

Durability
I rid myself of Andrew Bynum and acquired players with good track records of consistent health. Durability is not a concern moving forward.

Chemistry
This is an area where we will continue to grow, but the fits are incredibly good. My starting 5 is very unselfish and each other's games complement the other's very well. Jrue/Mayo sharing playmaking, George feasting on open looks and slashing for highlight dunks, Lee/Hibbert playing high/low post, etc.

Playoff runs from 2012/13- 2013/14
We earned high-ish seeds in the mammoth Western Conference two years in a row and pushed 7-game series both years in the 1st round. We are disappointed we did not advance either year, but we intend to make it further moving forward as some of these teams with ancient players continue to age.

Talent Improvement
We have the #2 center in the game in DeMarcus Cousins, paired with 4 young, great rooks who are proving they belong in the league. Lillard is going to be a stud in this league, and we have him locked up in his rookie deal. Beal will become a great #2 who has very underrated defense. Harrison Barnes has been putting up great numbers in up and down playing time. TRob still has to grow, but he will next to Cousins, as he fills the enforcer, do it all, scrapper forward that this team needs. I have more value at every spot (old and new rosters are posted above) then what I started with, easily.

Coaching
Scott Skiles was a great coach, defensively. He clashes with his players and frankly, I don't think he could grow this group of rookies. So we brought in the guy that literally groomed the youngest team (OKC) in the Real Life NBA, in Scott Brooks. We brought in one of the all-time great big men in David Robinson to handle DMC and TRob. Our coaching is literally perfect for our team, and frankly I think we have the best staff in the game.

Money management
Most of my team is locked into their rookie deals which all include team options. We have one problem, and that is the resigning of Cousins, which we are certain he will resign with given this core and the potential of this team. Even after we max Cousins, we will still have financial flexibility throughout the years to add free agents (a super star even), to round out our roster and put us over the hump, should we need too. No other team is in the position I am financially.

Future profitability
The city of Milwaukee supports a winner. We have a team that will become a staple in this league for years to come. It's a no brainer that this team will become a huge financial success, given the salary cap situation, and the sheer fact that in Milwaukee, when you win, they come. While this team grows, they will certainly fill the stands as this will be a fun, and exciting team to watch every game.

How bright is the team's future in terms of talent and possible title chances
This category is a no-brainer. Take a look at the ages of my starters that I have listed in my lineup. Our future is as bright as any team in the league, and to be frank, I don't think another team is close. Cousins is near unstoppable, and if you followed the practices leading up to the Olympics, you would know that this man was literally embarrassing the entire Olympic team during scrimmages.
Oh, I guess I forgot to mention I have 4 top 10 picks from the past draft, whom are all proving they belong in the league (heard that before earlier, huh?)

Draft picks - How did the team draft and how will future picks look
We drafted Nerlens Noel and turned him into Cousins. Sounds like a great draft to me. As for future years, we have managed to keep most of our 1sts going forward, but due to the sheer amount of young talent on this team, drafting players in the near future will not be as important.

Team Offense/Defense
Talk to Scott Brooks, not me. I am the Owner.

Durability
None of my players experience injury concerns currently. Jason Kidd is the oldest player on the team, but he is merely here just for a mentor ship role.

Chemistry
This might be my most impressive category. I took the original Milwaukee Bucks to this team in a small amount of moves ( you can count them, I believe it's 12). Therefore, this team has stuck together through 2 seasons, and have built chemistry that will last them their entire careers as a Milwaukee Buck.

Playoff runs from 2012/13- 2013/14

None. You people hate young teams, so you voted a team in with no point guards, instead of mine. :(. Yes I am bitter.

I started with a lottery team + Chris Bosh and Stephen Jackson. I decided I wanted to be win now right away. My first series of moves were to dump Okafor's contract along with Beal for Monta, to swap young non-win-now players Crawford/Vesely/Booker for veteran depth in Haywood and Sessions, to acquire Duncan/Marion/Knight using John Wall, and then to upgrade Knight to Nash. After these moves, I had a Duncan/Bosh/Marion/Monta/Nash core, which was a good team, but I felt strongly that I needed a top 5 player to build around to have a legit shot at the championship.

I made a lot of offers but could never get anywhere, until eventually I went all in and gutted my team for Dwyane Wade, giving up Bosh, Duncan, and Monta plus filler, and getting back Marcus Thornton and Jason Richardson as well as Chuck Hayes' horrible contract.

I had my top 5 player, and with Nash he was part of one of the best backcourts in the league, but the rest of my team was in shambles. I had previously dealt Nene for Caron Butler in an attempt to shore up wing depth, a move I later regretted. Looking at my situation, I quickly decided to try to dump salary to clear up max FA space while using my more valuable assets outside of Wade(Thornton, Seraphin, Al Harrington and his ng contract which I had acquired for Marion, picks) to acquire another good player, preferably a big.

My attempt to clear max cap space was a failure, as I couldn't dump J-Rich or Chuck Hayes. I did manage to get under the tax and acquire Amare Stoudemire, so it was not all doom and gloom. I re-signed my own FAs in Billups/Nick Young/Maggette(who was immediately traded) while adding MoWill and Robin Lopez via the MMLE and the BAE, and managed to acquire Bargnani and dump Hayes at the cost of four first round picks, and I turned Bargnani into K-Mart.

With an Amare/Martin/Wade/Nash core, I felt I was much improved already, but I needed a center badley, and I was concerned about K-Mart's defense at the 3 spot. Since I had MoWill and Billups, I decided to move Nash for a center, ultimately DeAndre Jordan(with AlJeff in the middle of that swap).

At this point, with DeAndre/Amare/Wade, I pretty much decided Wade has here permanently unless another top 5 player was coming back, so I spent a lot of time trying to upgrade my SF and PG spots but couldn't find any buyers for what I was selling. I ultimately ended up acquiring Tayshaun Prince, which allowed to have a respectable DeAndre/Amare/Tayshaun/Wade/Billups starting 5, but I felt it still wasn't championship calibre.

I then went to work(or rather already had been) creating depth to make up for what I felt were the weaknesses in my starting 5. I acquired David West with previously acquired Patrick Patterson and re-acquired Ramon Sessions(who had been dealt for Chauncey in my attempt to clear max FA space), and signed Jermaine O'Neal(who has playing the best ball he's played in years and was a big value on a min contract imo), Mike MIller, Omri Casspi, and Jordan Farmar to min contracts. I felt like Jermaine/West/Miller/J-Rich/MoWill was easily one of the best benches in the league and still do.

Finally, at the end of the game, an opportunity to acquire JJ came along and I bit the bullet and let DeAndre and Tayshaun go to make it happen. I thought an Amare/JJ/Wade big 3 was worth it, and than Dalembert and Jermaine would be able to hold the center position down.

In the end, I thought put together a ver nice team. I still think it's a better team than Cleveland which, despite their big two of Dwight/CP3, has imo a depth problem. I genuinely feel that my team has more overall talent on it. Needless to say I strongly disagree with the way the votes went.

It is the way they went though, and with ~90M payroll plus a little more 90M in lux tax for a second consecutive 2nd ross loss, plus the 60M I spent to relocate to Miami and become the Heat, and with only 2nd round picks left, I fear my financial and pick ratings will hurt me.

There was a ton of player movement on my team. There isn't a player left on my roster who was here when I started, and only three players who were on my roster at the end of 2012-13.

Still, I think I turned a lotto team+Bosh into a championship contender and one of the better teams in the league and I'm proud of that. Would've loved to found younger quality PG so I wouldn't have to start Chauncey, and would've loved to get my SF upgrade without giving up DeAndre, but it just wasn't in the cards.

In terms of the future, Wade and Amare both have ETOs and J-Rich and Chauncey have POs for 14-15. If all opt-out, we could be at ~37M, which would leave us with options. If we wanted to continue building around Wade and Amare, we could re-sign, or we could sign-and-trade if we want to go in a different direction. Wade would still bring a nice package back, and Amare could get something of value as well. If everyone opts in, then all of this happens in 2015 or 16 instead of 2014. Regardless, none of Wade, Amare, or JJ will be, as of now, on contract past 2016 latest(Amare isn't on contract past 2015, and Wade has a PO for 2015-16, and JJ expires outright in 2016). Additonally, J-Rich isn't on contract past 2014-15, Chauncey and MoWill have ETOs for 2015-16, and David West and Aaron Brooks have POs for 2015-16), so we're not locked into many players for that long of a time, and we'll be in a good position to change direction and acquire good rebuilding assets by 2016. So the likely course of action, since I don't really think Amare or Wade are going to opt out now in 2014, would be to try again with them for another year or two and then if we're not there yet, deal our most valuable FAs for young players and picks in S&T when their contracts are up, let the less valuable ones walk, and go into rebuilding mode with hopefully some very nice assets to build around.

In terms of coaching, we have a top-notch coaching staff. We have four head coaches on staff in Thibs, SVG, Lawrence Frank, and Randy Wittman, as well as HOF Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sam Cassell, and couple others as well. Possibly the best overall coaching staff in the league, imo.

So, in conclusion, in terms of improvement for start to finish, I think I did very well, as I have finished with what I think is one of the deepest, most talented teams in the league led by one of the best coaching staffs in the league playing in a more attractive FA destination. Financially, I'm paying 180M for my 2013-14 roster and only got to the second round of the playoffs(again, I think I should've gotten further), so not that great there. I only have second round picks so not great there either. Chemistry will get better in 2014-15 with these guys having a year together under their belts. Durability is definitely an issue with Billups and Dalembert and Jermaine and even Wade, but other than Billups there are no immediate major injury conerns that I can see. As for coaching, we have a top-notch staff with Thibs, SVG, Lawrence Frank, Kareem, and Randy Wittman with a few more assistants at the end of the bench as well. The outlook for the future is pretty good, I think, as we've got a couple years of contention and the ability to get some quality assets in S&T to rebuild with.

I had fun playing, and thanks to Ice and Riot for running it, as well as Roc and DN and Scott for helping out!
