I keep hearing, with greater frequency from rival execs and agents, that the sharp Miller -- named at the start of the season as the Clippers' new director of basketball administration -- is being groomed for a larger role in the Clips' decision-making hierarchy.
How large? Miller is the son-in-law of Clippers owner Donald Sterling and is increasingly regarded as the likely eventual successor to Sterling, who bought the franchise in 1981 before its fourth of six seasons in San Diego before relocating to Los Angeles in 1984.

When Gerald Madkins (former VP of Player Personnel for the Hornets) was hired as the Director of Basketball Operations, the Clippers also added a few others to the basketball operations staff.
Also new to the basketball operations department is Eric Miller, who will step into the role of Director of Basketball Administration. Miller’s responsibilities will include salary cap and database management, contract negotiations, analytics, scheduling of preseason games as well as assisting the Vice President of Basketball Operations in all other front office duties. Prior to joining the Clippers, Miller worked seven years as a CPA in public accounting in the San Fernando Valley. A 2000 graduate of Cal State Northridge with a degree in Accountancy, Miller, his wife Joanna and their four children Hannah, Luke, Ava and Sofia reside in Calabasas.
