Lance Stephenson's family tree

Post#1 » by dangermouse » Thu Jan 3, 2013 12:49 pm

So I watched the Wiz/Pacers game today, and early in the first Lance threw down a sick one handed alley-oop, and I went "wowww he's like a 6'5" Shawn Kemp!"

We all know what Kemp was like...... could... could it be???? I can't be the first to notice this right?

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

While I don't know about this case specifically, I have often assumed that some of the current players in the NBA, or college basketball, MUST be the sons of former NBA players and not know it (or at least not have it confirmed).

It only makes sense. It's only natural to think that the children of NBA players would have the greatest genetic likelihood of developing into NBA players themselves - we've seen this with Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Austin Rivers (lol j/k!), and some others as well. TONS at the college level.

NBA players are generally sexually profligate, travelling to many many different cities, partying hard, and **** random women left and right. There are tons of stories about NBA players with multiple illegitimate children - I can't remember who, but isn't there one guy who has like 13? Think about how many illegitimate children they might have that they don't even know about.

Any time someone brings up Wilt Chamblerlain's "slept with 10,000 women" claim, my first thought was always - I wonder if any of them had kids who grew up to be NBA players.

Think about how many NBA players don't know their father. In some segments of the US population, it's become a more and more common thing, sadly, to the point of being normal. It only makes sense to think that some of the current NBA players are the illegitimate children of former NBA players' liasons with the hundreds or thousands of women they sleep with in their lifetimes.

Even beyond that, there might be players who think they have a non-NBA-player father, who they've known their whole life... and it turns out mommy had a little fling with Dr. J back in 1982 or whatever, and the man they call "dad" got played pretty hard.

We'll never know. The only sure-fire case of this that we can even confirm happening is with LeBron James, whose father is almost certainly Delonte West.

Dude, its almost uncanny. Lance looks like a baby-faced Kemp. Even his muscle tone is very Kempesque.

We need this guy:

Lance Stephenson was born in Brooklyn, NY (and lived there his whole life so it reasons to believe his mother was from the area) on September 5th 1990, meaning he was likely conceived in late December/early January.

The Seattle Supersonics played AT New York on December 16th, 1989 (Kemp's rookie year and before he was a household name or at all famous) and then had two days off before playing in Detroit, meaning they likely stayed in New York after the game.

I like LeBron a lot and all.. but I've always had my suspicions about his family tree

My guess would be

Wilt ==> Malone ==> LeBron

By your logic there should then be what? 3 Jordan's in the league that are complete beast... but they didn't even make it into the league.

Anyway they look nothing a like

I think Andre Drummond might actually be a Kemp child though for real.

He got rejected by the rim on a breakaway dunk attempt last night. I don't think so.
