Please vote for the player that you think currently has the most trade value and please list a nominee that should be added the voting list. Remember this is trade value, so factors such as salary/contract, age, potential, production, injuries, etc. should all be factored in to your vote.

The current nominees:

Sorry guys, with the holidays it was hard to do this faster than I have, but I'd like to speed this up, so please.. vote early and vote often.

V: Love
A rough start to the season, but I don't think that negates the exponential rise we've seen the last couple years from him. Still the best rebounder in the game and potent offensively.

N: Rubio
Another one taking a while to warm up, but again based upon what we saw last season he's got the tools to be elite for his position and a marketing sensation. His rookie contract helps as well.

Vote: LaMarcus Aldridge - just putting him ahead of Love because of the situations that the two players are in. I believe that Minnesota is more likely to be put in a situation where they feel as if they need to move Love, which may hurt his value. Portland has no need to move LMA and can probably get quite a haul for him if they do.

Nominate: Marc Gasol - this is probably me overvaluing Centers, but that's what I do!

If you like Centers...

Lopez vs. Gasol

Lopez is 3 years younger
Higher PPG (by 4.7 ppg in 6 less minutes)
Higher FG%
Higher Rebound Rate
Higher BPG (2.2 vs. 1.7 in 6 less minutes)
Fewer Turnovers
Fewer Fouls
#5 in PER at 25.5 (tied with TD and Kobe). Gasol #43 at 19.5
58% of his points are in the paint, Gasol scores only 17% of his points from the inside

A big edge to Gasol in assists.

I realize Gasol's defense is better as they are the #2 defense, but given Lopez's improvement I think he will close the gap.

I also have Aldridge over Love, but I don't know if either will make my top 10 trade value.

V: Westbrook
- Assists are up, TO's are down. Lower FG% but higher 3pt% on more attempts, OKC is still trying to figure out the guard situation after losing Harden. Still a great rebounder. Young, athletic, hard to stop - one of the few guys left with a good contract situation and that upside.

N: Rubio
- He should be on the list by now. His game doesn't depend on athleticism, so he should be fine when he gets back on the court. I don't think he is as elite as other PG's, I wouldn't put him in the superstar category, but he does the right things to help his team win and that is valuable, not to mention his marketability (although this plays a pretty small role in my opinion)

Career so far: http://bkref.com/tiny/L1rBR
This season: http://bkref.com/tiny/1NjUl

Career pp36, PER and TS% are almost identical. Love is a better rebounder, Blake gets more assists. Neither is a renown defender. But Blake is younger. Signed to 2 more years. And cheaper this season. And I think very few would question more famous/marketable/popular/star power:

For instance, last year Blake had well over twice the All star votes then Kevin Love. Same this year:
Blake Griffin (LAC) 489,795 (projected starting All star)
Kevin Love (Min) 189,949

Likes on nba.com
Blake 6.2k
Love 1.8k

Jersey sales:
Blake: 9th last season
Love: Not top 15

The younger guy that jumps over cars and is signed for 2 more years wins this.

Love may have the higher bb-IQ, and projecting them as players despite the slump this season I think there is a very strong case for taking Love over Griffin if you had them both for another 8 years. But you don't.
You have Blake for 4.5 years and Love for 2.5. And Blake is more popular/marketable (and has pissed people off less).

I'm not, but if your a believer that athleticism is more important for future development, something along the following lines:
The chances _(Blake)___ catches __(Love)__ in BB IQ is slim. The chances __(Love)___ catches __(Blake)___ in athleticism is none.

Then the case for Blake over Love should be a slam dunk. (Pun intended, sorry)

V: Blake (I'm just not a huge Westbrook fan, but if I cost him this at least I got in a nice rant)
N: M. Gasol

Nominee mini-rant:
Picking between Horford/M.Gasol/Noah/Lopez (if you must TJ  ), etc, there are a slew of similar big men here. I'm going Gasol for now (legit center), but if Rubio is back at full form when these nominees are being voted on he can move back in front for the actual voting. Drummond is way too unpolished and unproven still for me to put him here.

V: Rondo.
- Very favorable deal (puts him ahead of guys like RW, Deron imo).
- elite PG (tried and tested - above Lillard)
- and still in his prime (above Wade).

N: Ibaka.
- he is a very good defensive player.
- developing a decent offensive game.
- still young, even though he has had a few years in the league now.
- Id rather Ibaka on his deal, than Love on his. (maybe because Im a Boston fan and we love defense)

Vote: Kevin Love

Nominate: Deron Williams

BTW, I didn't realize how incredibly awful Westbrick's efficiency has become this season, I hadn't checked it until last night in weeks, if not over a month. Really feel I have to downgrade him heavily in my player rankings and point guard rankings considering that even though he's made some major improvements over the years in running an offense his status still comes directly from his scoring ability.

And one does have to ask, if this is what he looks like next to Durant and Kevin Martin, what does he look like as the #1 option on a team where his 2nd option is say a big man or just anyone not as unbelievably good as KD?

His efficiency might become early career Jason Kidd like but with Allen Iverson usage, style and tendencies.

Yuck.

No love for Omer!

I think Tyson Chandler deserves to be in the there, too. JMO, though.

Love
Rubio -- should certainly be at least nominated when voters selected Kyrie Irving #3

Not sure I understand your assumed obvious reasoning here?

Kyrie is world's upon suns better then Rubio, not coming off a torn ACL and just as marketable.

And Bosh too. Varejao was making a push for a bit ...

Might have to make a separate topic to see who likes who and why from them, its a group where there are a lot of good answers.
