Did I lose out on this trade? (Sent Dwight, Kobe, Ellis)

Post#1 » by Macrophage » Fri Jan 25, 2013 7:34 pm

Hey guys. New to the forum and decided to ask you all about the trade I made.

I sent

1) Kobe Bryant
2) Dwight Howard
3) Monta Ellis

I received

1) George Hill
2) Jeff Teague
3) Tyson Chandler

I did this trade in order to unload D12 and Kobe because I personally thought they were due for some serious regression, and Monta Ellis was really screwing my FG%. I'm in a 10 team ROTO league and I'm currently #1 with 69 and the second place is at 60. I figured with TyChan and Teague, I'd be upping my FG%. In all due honesty, I benched Howard most games anyways and Kobe + Ellis have already created a 1000 point buffer between me and the second place team.

Here's the rest of my team (I'd post the pic, but new member...can't)

Holiday
Parker
Duncan
Kevin Martin
Brook Lopez
David West
Jamal Crawford
Paul Pierce
JJ Hickson
Kirilenko

(After the trade would Include Jeff Teague, TyChan, and George Hill)

The trade made sense in this inactive league at the time, but now, I'm second guessing it. Thoughts? Predictions? Be easy on me, it's my first year.

I can understand how this looks, but Howard never played more than 5 games in my time having him and Ellis/Bryant have already served their purpose. I'm looking to move up from that 5 in FG% (I'm 8-10 in all other categories)

I think TyChan and Teague are the way to do it.

Damn man you destroyed lol If you're in first by that much don't mess with things. I understand what you're doing but you could have gotten way more for those guys. It was a good idea to get rid of Dwight though. The dude is poison in roto.

Surprised it wasn't vetoed. We've seen a lot less get vetoed. Kobe alone for those 3 is taking a pretty big L.

What do you improve by doing this trade? If you wanted to up fg% it would've made sense to keep Dwight, and you could have gotten a lot more for just Kobe alone.

If you wanted to up FG% why were you benching howard?

Time will tell? No time already told. The time you hit the accept button.

Yeah a big oops.
Just some general advice, reasons like "I thought they were due for regression" without any reasoning to back that up (i.e. someone back from injury, new coach, etc.) is what bad fantasy players base bad decisions on.

Don't over complicate things. Go with the numbers. Why should Kobe and Dwight regress? I don't know either. Don't listen to your gut.

The argument about Ellis and FG% has been brought up already (i.e. why trade Dwight if you're targeting FG%?)
