Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter

Dwight Howard was evaluated by head athletic trainer Gary Vitti today. He has a sore right shoulder & will be listed as “day to day.”

Howard will not see a doctor or have further tests at this time on his shoulder. We’ll see how he feels in the morning.

Yea but now that this injury has happened twice in the same arm, within about a month apart. I'd rather Dwight sit as long as he needs to. No use trying to be Iron Man now, only to get in the playoffs and see him fall in the first round or worse, severely re-injure himself.

I feel Dwight's body is very delicate at this time, i'd rather toss the season in the dump and prep for next year.

Well I don't think he can really make it that much worse right? It's already torn and doesn't heal on its own so I think the only thing he can do is make the tear a full tear which would just require the surgery. If he shuts it down he will still keep dealing with the same thing until he gets the surgery eventually anyway so...

i dont want to compare myself to dwight lol but if we have the same shoulder injury then hes def going to need the surgery. maybe not now but he'll need to get it done because i dont think it'll heal on its own. i injured mine i think 2-3 months ago and still hurts when my arms are upward, when i shoot the ball, when i scratch my back. i tried to lay low in bball and started playing more tennis but it hurts when i serve/do a smash. the pain is tolerable but its effing annoying and it'll hurt more when i play long hours of bbal/tennis.

i'd honestly shut howard down the rest of the way. whatever it is it's obviously something he hasn't gotten enough rest for or something that's not gonna heal on its own. making him day-day isn't doing anything but putting him out there to aggravate it even more or possibly injure something else since his body has to already overcompensate for one injury.

Dwight Howard Will Not Play Friday Against Minnesota

Dwight Howard Will Not Play Friday Against Minnesota
By Rey Moralde | February 1, 2013

Dwight Howard re-aggravated his shoulder injury on Wednesday when they lost to the Suns at Phoenix. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports has the latest report on Howard.

He was re-evaluated Thursday and was said to be day-to-day with the injury. Howard has been trying to avoid surgery, as that would knock him out for the rest of the season. But, still, Dwight has to be careful. This was the third time he has hurt that shoulder this month. Not only he has to be careful about his shoulder but he has to be careful not to re-aggravate that back, too.

Pau Gasol should be promoted to the starting line-up, who had not been happy as of late with the way Mike D’Antoni had been using him as a bench player and, sometimes, sitting him out in the fourth quarter. With Gasol becoming the primary center for the team, Robert Sacre should get some playing time on the pivot. Remember that Jordan Hill is out for the rest of the season.

Hopefully, Dwight Howard will be available for Super Bowl Sunday, when they continue on their Grammy road trip and face the Detroit Pistons at Auburn Hills. In the meantime, the Lakers face the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves have dynamic point guard Ricky Rubio, who took up for his fellow Spaniard, Pau Gasol, about his role on the Lakers.

Lakers should be able to win this game with Minnesota lack of talented big men... Gasol needs to step his game up tonight!

"How long does it take the PRP to “work”?

Most patients notice some element of improvement by 2-6 weeks after PRP. Symptom improvement is slow and subtle as days and weeks pass, with usual report of original pain being replaced with more of a soreness. “Good days” become more and “bad days” become less as time passes, with pain intensity dropping along the way. Increased endurance and strength are typically reported. Clinical trials are reporting ongoing improvement up to 6-9 months after PRP in some cases."

trying to find the bright side to this, this is an opportunity to showcase pau to Minnesota. they wanted him for pek and williams in december. during that time, pek stepped it up big time, and pau was put in the lime light as being old and washed up. as of late, peks been hurt, but still playing well and pau has picked up his game, but still lays the occasional egg. If pau can put together a nice game, it can possibly be seen as incentive to trade for him. peks a free agent next season, and teams will be going at him hard. so knowing this, plus the fact that the new cba is killing small market teams who hit the luxury tax (and Minnesota eventually will with extending love, with rubio soon to follow, and then offering the max to pek), a trade is a possibility.

the hawks have said to be interested in signing pek this offseason. knowing this, theres always the possibility we see a 3 way trade. pau to minny. pek/dwill to atl. and josh smith to LA. theres lots a reaching invovled in this trade idea, but the possibility is there.

Kobe Bryant challenged Dwight Howard to return to the Los Angeles Lakers' lineup following their win over the Nets.

The Lakers lost Pau Gasol to injury in the game and Bryant thinks Howard can play through the injury.

"He's probably worried about the damage in his shoulder," Bryant said. "I don't think he's ever had to play through injuries in his career. I think it's a new experience for him."

Bryant has postponed surgeries until the offseason and played through pain several times throughout his career.

"When I was growing up, going through high school and middle school, unfortunately but fortunately I dealt with injuries," Bryant said. "Not injuries that were debilitating but injuries you have to play through where you have to manage the pain. When you go through those things you learn your body and what you can push through.

"But Dwight has never been hurt. The [back injury last season] was debilitating and he couldn't play. When you have an injury that hurts you but you can play through it that's something you have to balance out and manage and he's never really had to do that."

Dwight Howard Will Play Tonight (2/7/13) vs. Boston Celtics

Post#17 » by WCDYNASTY » Thu Feb 7, 2013 11:55 pm

Lakers News: Dwight Howard Active Thursday vs. Boston Celtics
By Daniel Buerge | February 7, 2013

After losing Pau Gasol for an extended period of time, the Lakers were left with the possibility of not having either of their dominant big men on Thursday night against the Boston Celtics. However, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Howard will indeed be in action for Los Angeles when they take the floor in Boston.

Adrian Wojnarowski: @WojYahooNBA
After missing two games with sore shoulder, Lakers center Dwight Howard plans to play against Boston tonight, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Adrian Wojnarowski: @WojYahooNBA
Correction: Dwight Howard has missed three straight games for the Lakers, not two.

This is indeed encouraging news as the Celtics come into the game hot. They are winners of five straight, all of which came after they lost Rajon Rondo for the rest of the season with a torn ACL. But the Lakers have been on a streak of their own, winning six of their last seven games, including their biggest road win of the season on Tuesday in Brooklyn.

Tonight’s game will start at 5:00 PST in Boston.
