Lin

Post#1 » by holly1985 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 4:27 am

Lin watched Harden play and said he was happy for him. But he also admitted the All-Star Game wasn’t for him. Not this year.

“I’m kind of thankful I didn’t get voted because when … I want to make sure I’m fully, fully deserving of it, when I play,” Lin said after the team’s evening practice on Monday. “And I didn’t feel like that was the case this year.”

Did watching Harden play in the All-Star Game at the Toyota Center motivate Lin to get to that level, to where he's deserving of playing in the game?

“I’m not really any more motivated to make it to the All-Star Game to be honest,” he answered. “I’m happy for James but for a player, I don’t think that’s anybody’s motivation.”

“Coach keeps talking about it as a playoff push and how it’s going to fly right by,” Lin said. “It’s all about seeding now and we have to make sure we’re in.”

i agree with him...he didn't deserve to be in and had he been voted in, it would've been very awkward. If you're a true Lin fan, you shouldn't have voted for him.

Bah. Jeremy Lin has to be so extra careful with his public conduct it's not even remotely fair. Who else has to apologize for having overzealous fans in the NBA? Nobody so much as batted an eyelash when someone like Jamaal Magloire or A.C. Green got voted in as starters. It's a popularity contest, and Lin is popular for literally all the right reasons.

ZOMG ALL THE CHINESE ARE TAKING OVER THE ALL STAR VOTING. Well if the NBA wanted Chinese money, they are going to get Chinese fans. They are also gonna get the folks who remember watching Muggsy/Spud/Starks etc and marveled at their back story.

I wish the rest of the NBA fans realized that hoop heads like their underdogs. Some of us would like to believe fairy tales come true once in a blue moon.

Whutever. FWIW, I voted for Skip too.

Ugh...I hate that All Star voting is left to the fans. I want to see the best at each position. I completely agree with Lin. Getting because of overzealous fans just cheapens it.

Exactly. classy move, but he shouldnt have the apologize. Who gives a **** if fans vote Lin in and who gives a **** if it's from china or antarctica? Paying fans are paying fans. The NBA opening up the ASG to fan voting was a deliberate move and they are profiting from it. And we criticize those votes like the ASG has been about who's most deserving and not who's most popular... hypocrites.

Fix the damn All-NBA/Defensive selections then we can talk about how stupid the All-Star selections are.

I didnt read the article but it just seemed like he said what basically every popular player in his postion would say... They feel bad other players don't get as much recognition I suppose.

KG said it this year too, that he shouldn't be in the game.
Vince Carter said it a couple times, i'm sure there are more just can't think of any right now.

Magloire I think was voted in by the coaches right? No way he won fan vote over someone like Ben Wallace, i don't know who else played in the East back then... Deke? Ratliff?
