Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Wed Feb 20, 2013 11:43 pm

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have named former Blue Jays RHP PAUL QUANTRILL as a consultant to the organization.

QUANTRILL, 44, played 14 seasons in the Major Leagues appearing in 841 games for seven clubs, including six seasons with the Blue Jays, recording a 3.83 ERA. The London, Ontario native led the league in appearances in each of 2001, 2002 & 2003, while being selected to the All-Star game in 2001. The right-hander holds the New York Yankees record for appearances with 86 in 2004.

An important part of the Baseball Canada program, Quantrill has been a player with Team Canada during the 2006 World Baseball Classic, and coach with the 2009 WBC Team and 2008, 2009 and 2010 Junior National Team. Inducted in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on June 19, 2010, he joins CITO GASTON and GEORGE BELL as consultants and ROBERTO ALOMAR as a Special Assistant to the organization.

Only surprise there is that Quantrill played just six seasons with the Jays...seemed like he was here forever.

You know the classic,

1. Do something
2. ???
3. Profitz!

I think the Jays just identified #2 in every circumstance.

1. Acquire a buttload of new talent.
2. Sign Quantrill to a fake job
3. Profit!

But if you have Quantril at 2, you can do anything at 1 and it leads to profit at 3.
