On to the next one.
I really liked our effort and offensive execution in the last game. I think we missed JJ, but the ball movement seemed to be better, and we got better shots, as opposed to the ball-stopping and the ISOs that tend to happen when JJ's out there.
I like our chances in this game, tbh. As opposed to the Rockets, they play a similar style to us, and theoretically, that should mean that we matchup better with them (yes, I'm aware we got crushed the first time we played them). I also think Tele is going to get some legit playing time now, so that's a great sign.
I'm in shock that Evans still gets as many minutes as he does. It's been a recurring theme EVERY game: we struggle with Evans in the game, he goes out, we make a run...Evans comes back in, they make a run...Evans goes out, we make a run...Evans sits out in crunch time, and we play our best basketball and usually win the game. PJ obviously recognizes that playing Evans a ton of minutes is not conducive to winning, because he does bench him in a close game in the 4th quarter. Why can't he just not play him that much from the very beginning? At what point is he going to say to himself "hey, we seem to play a lot better whenever Evans is out of the game...maybe I should bring him off the bench again and use him in limited spurts, like every other team would use him?", or are we going to be stuck with Reggie "Tragic Johnson" Evans as the starting PF the rest of the way? I'm going crazy every time I see a potential 6-0 run in Mirza rot on the bench, while Evans provides NOTHING. He's not even rebounding that well! That's the only positive attribute he brings to a team, and he's not even doing that, yet he still gets playing time, and legitimate playing time at that (20+ mpg every game). This is one of the most inexplicable situations I've ever seen.
