Playoff position

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Mon Apr 8, 2013 6:14 pm

With the last few games looking to determine how the playoff race will shape up. Do some of you think the Grizz should go for homecourt advantage and win the majority of their games(going for 3rd and play Warriors) or rest the guy since they can't fall as far as fifth in the western playoffs and perhaps play the Clippers for revenge? Keep in mind, the Grizzlies have the hardest schedule of the three teams here in their respective 5 games remaining to play.

Remaining schedules

4/9 CHARLOTTE 7 p.m.
4/12 @ Houston 7 p.m.
4/13 LA CLIPPERS 7 p.m.
4/15 @ Dallas 7 p.m.
4/17 UTAH

Best case: If they want the 3 or 4th seed, 3-2 plus beating the Clips, if the Nuggets keep winning while the Grizz get the fourth, then it's likely they will face the Clips again. Which is my honest opinion VERY LIKELY!
Worse case: If the rest the guys and finish no worse than 5th, then 2-3

Nuggets

4/10 SA
4/12 @DAL
4/14 POR
4/15 @MIL
4/17 PHX

Best case 4-1 and keep the third seed.
Worse case: rest the guys and go 3-2

Clippers

April 10 vs. Minnesota Prime Ticket 7:30 p.m.
April 12 at New Orleans Prime Ticket 5:00 p.m.
April 13 at Memphis Prime Ticket/NBA TV 5:00 p.m.
April 16 vs. Portland TNT/Prime Ticket 7:30 p.m.
April 17 at Sacramento Prime Ticket 7:30 p.m.

Best case: The Grizz/Clips game will determine who will get the third or fourth seed in the race. 4-1 to maintain control of themselves.

Worse case: The Clips been faltering a bit with rumors of locker room issues dusting up. If the Clips beat the Grizz, they will own either third or fourth seed depending on what Denver does in their games.

Someones gonna win 56 games, whoever it is gonna be 3rd. Gotta win at home tonite and vs LAC/UTA. Then gotta find a way to split @HOU/@DAL which is gonna be tought especially if the Mavs are still in the race.

But if Denver wins tomorrow vs the Spurs, then just focus on gettin homecourt vs LAC.

When the Mavs lost to the Lakers last week, they were eliminated from the playoffs. In spite of the remaining games left to play.

Home court would be nice, but I think I value our core guys being rested and healthy heading into the playoffs above all else - even if that means losing some winnable games down the stretch. FWIW, if we take care of business against the Clippers on Saturday, I feel pretty confident that we'll have homecourt against them in the first round.

that's how I feel too - and it looked like our guys have the same mentality last night - don't push yourself too hard in the remaining games especially against powder puff teams like CHarlotte. But I want to see them go full throttle against the Clippers on Saturday. Does it need to be a greco-roman wrestling match in the paint as normally btwn us and them? Probably not.

But getting that win means something in the standings and the ego.

You can't move up at this point....Clippers auto got 4th so you can't get it, and Denver has the tie breaker on you, so even if Phoenix could even beat Denver, and you obviously beat Jazz, it wouldn't even matter...

So the best thing to do is, sit out Randolph, Conley, and Gasol so they can rest for playoffs, and "take a dive" for the Jazz!!! I mean 1 difference in loss won't be that bad, I mean Denver screwed your homecourt, but Jazz are victims, and need retribution over Lakers.

I mean do you guys really want Lakers going to playoffs?!? You get rest and Jazz goes to playoffs, that is a win win for both Jazz and Grizzles, and a win for every team(cause they all don't like lakers neither).

if the Clippers lose tonight I think we still have a possibility of getting home court adv even as the 5th seed if our record i better. so it's not entirely done yet. On the other hand I agree, we should see a lot of Leuer, Dooling, and Willie.
