Larry Drew is likely to be fired as HC of Atlanta by our new GM.

He has 3 straight winning seasons and his Hawks team was one of the top teams thus year in assists. Quickest ATL coach to 100 wins since Lenny Wilkins 20 years ago.

Best win% of any Hawks coach in 20 years. Regular season AND playoffs.

Thoughts?

what do the tea leaves say is the reason why Danny Ferry would get rid of him? difference of philosophy, personalities, or what?

Ferry cleaned house n the front office after taking over. Marketing, sales, PR. He wants his own guys in key leadership positions. Drew just happens to be the last holdover from the previous GM.

Technically, he's not being fired. His contract ends in June.

I'd say Brian Shaw or Jerry Sloan.

I don't know, part of me hopes we do sign a garbage coach for another year. We need a top 5 pick next year. That much is certain. 2013's draft should get us a really good role player to an average starter on a championship team. 2014 is where the stars are. The top 5 in that draft would all go number 1 in this year.

Stephen Silas to command the tank for next year would be much preferred than SVG, Collins, Scott, Frank, Johnson, Skiles, etc.

Sloan or bust for me.

Not sure why SVG is in that list but ok. We'd be lucky to get someone of that caliber.

Patrick Ewing still wants to be a coach and he and Jordan are good friends. I could see Ewing agreeing to hold down the fort for a song for a year. Maybe he could help tutor Biyombo to boot. I don't think Ewing would be a good coach but we don't really need a coach this coming year. We just need someone who can ensure we suck enough to get a good shot at Wiggins.

but we already had that guy and we fired him. thats whats crazy. ok if the players dont like him, just bring him into the office and tell him to chill out and cut all the mandatory practices in half or whatever. we want to pay you the same money with less work, less hassle, same low expectations! who would say no to that?plus the guys who actually care on the roster can come in for voluntary work whenever. win win for everyone and we avoid this huge public embarassment

We had that with Dunlap. Not sure why we dumped him. Do we want to go from tanking to win now mode? Does MJ have CP3 lined up to come home?

What is the story with BobsBuddy, I've kept hearing his name mentioned over the past couple of days......

I've said it every single time our coaching position opens up... JEFF VAN GUNDY. We need a player's coach e.g. JVG, Sam Cassell, Sloan, and Ewing to bring the swag to this team

I dont think Sloan will be in the running again. I like Alvin Gentry. Next would be SVG.
