Would it be a good move for Mitch to move up somehow and get this kid to replace Pau? Zeller could play the C position when Howard sits and move Hill to the PF keeping us young, athletic, long, and still able to run. Ariza has opted out so him returning to the SF position would have a 28 and under frontcourt. This kid has ELITE athletic ability.

I think people are sleeping on Zeller - he's not a sexy pick but he's a workhorse and will likely keep getting better and better. Hard-working, coachable, good size. had a bad year (for him) and slid

OP Trev is opting in not out, so he's staying put in DC.
@ EArl....we got no shot in hell at Burke, unless Mitch finds a way to move us into the 1st round. But I get what you're saying though.

Re: Cody Zeller
I still think Mitch can dangle Pau for a first rounder.
The only way I would get Zeller is if Dwight leaves to have as a back up.

Re: Cody Zeller
need to buy one or two draft picks, we can do rebuilding on the fly like Spurs doing right now.
If Howard stay, Lakers could trade Pau to Rockets for TPE or even a pick.

The question I'd have is what is Pau worth in say a trade of even salary. Let's say two terrible expiring contracts at around 20m together vs Pau. What kind of pick can that get you. Mitch would look at that for sure.

Pau needs to go to a team that has a lot of assets, not just junk. Lakers need to turn Pau into a lottery pick and another very good bench player.

The Rockets don't want Pau anymore.

I think that Pau can land us a top 10 pick. If there is a player that we are interested that hasn't been picked up yet (Burke), Mitch jumps on that ****.
Just my two cents. Obviously this on the realm of almost being impossible, but with Mitch there is always a chance.

Re: Cody Zeller
I don't think Pau can get us a top 10 pick, maybe 12-16. He's 32 with bad knees and teams know this.

If D12 wants to go to Houston we'll have to sign and trade, which will give him the extra 30 mill I am assuming.Thomas Robinson,Parsons, and a first if you want D12.

Re: Cody Zeller
1st rounders carry cap hits that I do not think the Lakers want on the books until both the Dwight sitch / Summer '14 Cap are resolved.
In fact I assume they'll trade away the player they draft in the 1st in '14 if they need that cap space (ala Toney Douglas picked for NYK). 2nd round picks, who don't carry a cap hit, will be a more realistic option if LA is moving up, based on their prior cap conservation statements.
