Thomas Robinson?

The Rockets are making Thomas Robinson available in an attempt to clear cap. What would you guys think about us getting last year's 5th overall pick and what do you guys think we'd have to give up to get him?

We'd be helping HOU sign Dwight Howard.

If Dwight makes it clear that he doesn't wanna come to Atlanta or if he narrows down his list of preferred destinations to just Houston and some other team (not Atlanta) then I think we should look into this. I'm sure they wouldn't be demanding too much given the fact that they're just trying to dump him, he has a lot of potential too. It's a high risk low reward situation.

I'm on board, especially if we can snag him cheap (19th pick?). That's great value for a guy who went 5th last year, if solely on potential.

This year's 19th pick sounds like a great value for To-Rob.

We basically need to be just acquiring young talent for now anyway. Seeing which players stick and can be molded into our kinds of players.

Would rather go after Derrick Williams if we are going to trade a pick for a PF. Robinson was vastly overrated like Tristan Thompson.

What bothers me - the most - about him is the Rockets desperately need a PF, yet, having seen him on their team, they're looking to dump him.

Supposedly, all the Rockets need to do is dump him just so they can have exactly enough to offer Dwight a max. I think its a mix of Robinson not being good and his salary being just the right amount to put them where they want to be.

I don't think this is something that will happen until after the draft. Seems like a trade Houston would mostly entertain in free agency once they have a legitimate interest from Dwight. If that's the case I'm sure we could acquire him for a 2nd or some protected out the ass conditional 1st, they won't care because Dwight is the prize. The Hawks would be fools to not pursue it because there's about a half dozen other teams that could offer the same and if Dwight doesn't want Atlanta then he doesn't want Atlanta. He has options so it's not as if we can choke the market and force him here.

Man, I just don't see why we take on another guy that would crowd Horford at the 4. Yes, he can play the 5, but it just makes sense to give him the chance to play at his natural position and surround him with guys that will compliment him. Robinson at least isn't going to range outside like Josh as tried to. We need someone to play SF with a good outside shot for Horford to pass to from the post, and we need a good C to do the dirty work on the glass. If we can get him cheap, Robinson would be a nice addition to our bench.

T-Rob just looks like he has Marvin Williams written all over him. Patrick Patterson looks like the better player.
