Zeller rising as a 4

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Sat Jun 1, 2013 1:38 am

Chad Ford checked out a recent workout by Cody Zeller, seems like he's got a legit NBA 3. He dropped in the mocks because everyone figured he would get beat up as a center, but he seems like he'll make that transition to the 4. Good news for us - this will probably push him up before 8. And if Len has some good workouts, and he is a legit NBA C, that will start pushing some guys down to us. This is a very hard draft to figure out...

The bigs will rise. Zeller and Len have decent skill set. Most of the wing players (that we might be targeting) will be available at #8.

I think Shabazz is Pistons' pick.

Is Len healthy enough to work out?

Ok let's say Zeller and Len rise.

1. CLE - NOEL
2. ORL - Mclemore
3. WAS - Porter
4. CHA - Oladipo
5. PHX - Zeller
6. NO - Len
7. SAC - Burke

Still Shabazz IMO

lol on Bennett.

If Len and Zeller rise, Burke, Oladipo or Bennett could fall to us for sure.

I'm hoping Oladipo falls, somehow, like Drummond did (nobody but Jodi though it could happen). Need the bigs to rise.

1. CLE - NOEL (get talent and Noel helps the tank for Wiggins)
2. PHX- Mclemore (PHX trades up with ORL to get their wing)
3. NO - Porter (NO trades up with WASH for Porter)
4. CHA - Bennett (Offense to pair next to Bismack)
5. ORL - Burke (Trade down with PHX, still gets Burke)
6. WASH - Zeller or Len (WASH trades down with NO, takes a big to pair with Nene)
7. SAC - MCW (They finally get their long-term PG)

8. DETROIT - Oladipo (defense SG with efficient and improving offense.

Knight / ???
Oladipo / Stuckey / English
??? / Middleton / Singler
Monroe / ??? / Jerebko
Drummond / ??? / Kravtsov

Oladipo will be the best player from this draft. If he falls I would just laugh.

I see more Drummond stock failures in Bazz than Oladipo. Dipo is going up.

Again, its not what I predict to happen, per se. But nobody saw Drummond falling at this stage last year either.

Bennett is definitely in play to be there at 8.

I'm split. I like Bennett. He has upside, but I'd prefer Muhammad considering he fills a need for Detroit and has equal upside, IMHO.

True.
There's zero chance Oladipo fails out of the top 5. There's hardly any question marks over him unlike Dre last year. Bazz on the other hand has had a very similar career arch as dre.

Out of curiosity, does anyone like Zeller? I get that his arms are short, and that he's white, but why else are people so down on him? His efficiency both years in college was ridiculous and he had crazy-good PERs (around 30) He's got great footwork and a nice shot, and he's a legit 7 footer. He was a better college player than Chris Bosh and he's taller and heavier than him. Why is it that we all see no upside there?

I'm guessing it's because he doesn't fill a need for us.
If he's clearly the best player on the board at 8, i dont have a problem picking him .

I see us getting one of bazz, zeller, mccullom, mcw,I also see burke falling, everyday it seems more and more reports are coming out about guys like mcw, kcp, mccullom, zeller that teams are becoming more interested in,that makes me believe that burke could fall to us especialy if teams that need pg are looking at guys like mcullom, mcw and see a higher ceiling then burke and are wowing them at workouts.I will be happy with anyone of those.I also like zeller alot,I can see him being a starting 4 and back up c,and I also think he can be what we all hope monroe will become, but with better defense and a mid-3 point shot.

I only want Shabazz at 8. I'm not buying the media hype on Tony Allen 2.0. That's not what this team needs... We need a go to scorer on the wing
