Where will Shabazz go in the draft?

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Sun Jun 2, 2013 3:13 pm

Lots of talk about Shabazz. I think everyone should send me $100, pick an option in the pole, and if your right, I'll send you the money - less my house fee of course :-) Seriously, pick an option, explain your justification, and be ready to gloat come draft night!

I think Shabazz range is 8-14. Ultimately I think we pass on him for MCW, I think MN goes with a better more efficient shooter/scorer prospect in McCollum or KCP. I have Phili, Portland and OKC going with bigmen. I can see him going to Dallas at 13, or Utah at 14.

I think Shabazz is a really good pick in the 10-14 range where he wont be under as much pressure to produce results right away.

I think theres a 100% chance Bazz is picked between the 1 and 60.

I think there is very little chance he goes before us. 8-14 is about right

I went #11, but it'll be anywhere from 6-11. New Orleans, Detroit and Philly are probably the most likely destinations. Sac already has one circus in town, Portland needs a center and KCP or Karasev are probably a better fit in Minny.

I voted 8, but it's really up in the air.

It's hard to believe Shabazz will last til our pick. A team before us will pick him based on hype from a year ago. If Waiters went 4, Shabazz can go around there too..

Too tough to call. Where guys like Len, Bennett, McCollum and Zeller end up really determines a lot of the top ten. Those guys are wild cards. They're getting a lot of hype, but not dead-sure landing spots.

I don't know if Shabazz would fall past Minnesota? They want a 2-guard to put between Rubio and Love. I could see them taking him.

Waiters was a consensus top-10 guy last year. Not many thought he'd go as high as 4, but he was absolutely expected to be top 10, with most mocks putting him around 7 I think.

And Waiters was unquestionably a safer prospect last year than Shabazz is this year. Waiters played very efficient, well-rounded offense in college and was a great athlete, while Shabazz put up medicore efficiency and truly horrible non-scoring numbers. You need to make a lot of excuses for Shabazz's season if you want to take him, but Waiters had all the numbers you'd expect out of a top wing prospect. (And he was actually younger than Bazz, despite being a sophomore.)

Anywhere from 8 to 14. Would be shocked if he fell out of the lottery...but I really don't see Minny or Portland passing on him.

Shabazz has too much potential for him to drop below 10 unless minds are lost in a few front office which wouldnt be shocking. Decade long Lottery teams are that for a reason.

Especially in this piss poor draft.

^Yeah. For him to drop below 10 in this draft would be silly, imo. He has quite a few red flags/issues but for all of the talk of him not living up to expectations, he still averaged 18/5 on 44/38% shooting. That's not bad.

CLE = Noel...

ORL = McLemore...

WAS = Porter...

CHA = Oladipo....

PHO = Zeller...

NOP = Bennett... hard to gauge who they'll take

SAC = Burke... disappointing many here who want him

DET = MCW... defensive minded big PG to team with Drummond on D and helps Knight offensively

MIN = Len...

POR = C.J McCullom...

PHI = Gobert or Dieng or Adams

OKC = Schroeder or Dieng or Adams

At this point the media would be buzzing with "How far will Bazz fall"!

DAL = Bazz

We then complete the Marion + #13 pick deal after July 1st and come out of the Draft with Bazz AND MCW!

Bazz + Knight + MCW = a backcourt that could be worth a damn in 2 years...

KCP goes next to Utah... Olynyk is an option for OKC, PHI and MIN too...

Not completely out of the question that Bazz drops to #13 due to "red flags" or poor advanced stats.

IMO we NEED to do talk Dallas into the Marion + #13 for a second rounder (or 2) deal... we could come out of this Draft with Bazz and MCW or Bazz and Schroeder or MCW and KCP or Bazz and KCP...

we could draft a big man at #13... which would give us a back-up C for next to nothing instead of wasting money in free agency.

So many options... and if teams want to trade out of the first round Joe Dumars should be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake

Much rather have KCP over Bazz.

Rather have KCP over MCW too.

I would love to grab Shamu and MCW out this draft...KCP is cool, he may be better suited as a 6th man though...Watch, I'll end up eating those words after KCP's rookie season... 8-)
