David Murphy pitched a scoreless inning in relief for the Rangers on Tuesday night against the Red Sox.
Boston defeated Texas 17-5 at Fenway Park.
Murphy is the first Rangers position player to pitch in Boston since Jose Canseco did so on May 29, 1993.
It was the first pitching appearance of Murphy's career.
