Despite an ugly stretch of baseball, the Yanks rebounded with a clobbering of Cleveland and hit the road against the M's. Adding Tex and Youk to the mix will take time to gel. That leaves the Yanks without Jeter, Granderson, Pineda as significant pieces of the puzzle.
Random thought: Gonna take time but I wonder, if the Twins wouldn't mind if the Yanks took Mauer's contract off their hands? Yanks badly need a guy who hits for average and a catcher.
Hitting the road should give the fans more information on this team's moxie...
Go Yanks.

Phil Hughes wins! Great performance going 7 innings with 3 hits and 7 Ks. Seems clear, Hughes a fly ball pitcher works better in a pitcher's park.

Run support for Hughes, who had a nice bounceback game.
What's his contract look like? And are the Steinbrenners saving or spending?

He's 20M a season. That'd be a lot of payroll to dump for him.

Boy, those batting averages are UGLY...and reflective of a line up that couldn't hit a pitcher with a 6.75 ERA.

So basically, that's a reach even if they wanted him?

Well if George SR was around, the concessions would be made by the front office to get him. But this is the "fiscally responsible" billion dollar franchise that is unhappy A-Rod continues to burn them without playing. So yea.

The offensive might of Jason Nix. Thought Tex is so much better at #3 with Cano behind him. Wells needs to get hot.

Phelps outduels Felix Hernandez. Bret "the hitman" Gardner provides more than 50% of the offense with 4 hits.
