Texas Rangers (44-32) @ New York (41-34): Doesn't get easier

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Tue Jun 25, 2013 4:19 pm

Despite all the injuries, every thing that can go wrong, the Yankees are right THERE in the thick of the playoff hunt. As a fan, I have to weigh this tease of competitive desire vs the reality of staving off rebuilding. Yanks are missing so many vital cogs: The Captain, Pineda, and even if you don't like them: Granderson and Teixiera adds protection around Cano. With Youkilis GONE till end of September, suddenly Alex Rodriguez seems viable.

Tonight, Yankees GM will be haunted by Yu Darvish who is destroying the AL with blistering heat. Think about if Cashman convinced "Bean counter" Hal to loosen the purse strings and the potential of having Pineda and Darvish in pin stripes. If you think about a 1-2-3 of Darvish, Sabbathia, Pineda then you'll cry yourself to sleep.

I don't know. I just don't know anymore. Just something I don't like about Brian Cashman's eye when it comes to pitchers. Maybe I am too bitter about Carl Pavano, AJ Burnett, and Kei Igawa. Maybe I am too bitter about holding onto Joba and Hughes too long and not being afraid of trading when their stock was at its highest to get a bigger piece?

I just don't like this mentality, we're going to be fiscally responsible mentality of the "new" New York Yankees. It's like the government telling us, there's no money but we're spending all this money for the NSA to watch over you.

Really does make me wonder if the Steinbrenner family really was playing with the idea of how much they could get for this franchise.

Good performance from Hughes but NO offense to support him. That's gotta be at least the 3rd-4th solid performance that the Yanks can't give run support.

That said, LF Zoilo Almonte might be that bright spot for the future.
