Assistant Ron Adams Leaving Chicago

Post#1 » by sonictecture » Sat Jun 29, 2013 5:11 pm

Former OKC Thunder assistant coach Ron Adams is not having his contract renewed by Chicago in a move I can only assume means Adams and Thibs didn't get along as Adams is a Chicago native. With Cheeks taking the head coach job in Detroit is this the right time to get Adams back into the fold?

Or is a more well rounded coach, perhaps with a reputation for diagraming X's & O's a more prudent choice?

We could certainly use an X's and O's guy but who is out there and willing to take an assistant position? Is Ewing available to work with Adams?
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Patrick Ewing took a head assistant position with Steve Clifford in Charlotte.

I'm only speaking in generalities, as I'm not privy to know who is actually capable of making a difference as an assistant. I think what we saw with Cheeks is he got to be the player connection leaving a professional space between Brooks and the team. Allowing Brooks to still be the bad guy and not just the friend.

Adams received a lot of credit as a defensive coach and I think the team still has another step to take to be a championship level defense.

There are an awful lot of former head coaches who for what I am assuming are price reason are not currently coaching. Owners are hiring cheaper options. At some point aren't some these guys going to have to get back into coaching as assistants or lower their asking price?

With all the rookie scale contract we have now. would be good to get adams back to build up their defensive mindset.

Actually, Thibs loves Adams. Our GM, Gar Foreman, is jealous of all the credit Thibs is getting. Petty ****. Their relationship has deteriorated. Apparently, Adams made a comment deriding some roster move/s which is the excuse Gar used to not renew the contract of Thibs' favorite assistant. It's really just a power move. There is a legitimate quibble Gar has with Thibs regarding his overplaying Deng and Noah, but nothing that should result in such a cold relationship.
