Trying the Euro Market?

Post#1 » by ROballer » Wed Jul 3, 2013 9:54 am

Just wondering, since we have so little money to spend, why not try to get some bodies from Europe?
I'm not talking only about europeans, but even americans who didn't get a shot and honed their skills for years there

Guys like Anthony Parker back in the day,Will Bynum,Chris Copeland,Alonzo Gee,Danny Green,Gary Neal all played some euro ball and they did pretty darn good after they came back in the NBA...I'm sure I'm missing other players as well

Non americans who weren't drafted like Mozgov,Shved,Ayon,Teletovic and who got contracts are pretty good also

With the minimum,we can't really get very good talent within the NBA....young talent
We may pry some veterans who are chasing a ring and are on their last legs but not much

But from Europe,we may find someone eager to prove a point that they belong in the NBA who might just be convinced that they need to prove their worth first, and thus be persuaded to take a minimum contract(or slightly more,up to the MMLE if it's a proven guy ) for a year or two and then banking in more money if he's any good

I don't really follow the European leagues (even though I'm european) so I don't know a lot of names who might fit the bill so a little help would be welcomed and appreciated

Most have buyouts that would cost over the minimum they would make. Also some clubs pay for housing which would screw with those who have families.

I'd love for the Lakers to get Juan Carlos Navarro as the backup SG. He's getting paid a lot in Spain though, so it's a longshot. But maybe Pau can talk his friend into coming to town.
