Eric Gordon

Post#1 » by Mr Peanut » Thu Jul 4, 2013 1:44 am

With the Pelicans getting closer to a deal with Tyreke, and an increasing number of FA options for the Pistons heading to other cities, how does this sound?

Eric Gordon for Stuckey, CV (+/- 2nd rounder)

We become:

Drummond/Monroe/Kravstov
Monroe/Jerebko/Mitchell
FA?/Singler/Middleton
EG/KCP/English
Knight/FA?/Siva

Pelicans get out of Gordon's deal and can start Tyreke at the 2.

Gordon is owed 14.3M, 14.9M and 15.5M over the next 3 seasons and if he stays healthy could be the scoring option we desperately need, and cheaper than Gay (albeit another year on the deal).

This might sound very Dumars esque but I want a combo guard with decent size instead of a guy like Gordon. Kcp is more of a pure scorer so I want a guard who can handle the ball next to him when Knight sits.

I'm not sure how badly the Pels want Gordon at the moment. First they said he was "very available" but now they apparently want to keep him. If they do want to dump his contract I would be all for getting him.

Stuckey/CV/KCP for Gay

Singler/Jerebko/future 1st for Gordon

Knight/Bynum
Gordon/English
Gay/Middleton
Monroe/Mitchell
Drummond/Kravstov

Yeah, If you're making a trade for someone with bad knees like Gordon it would be best to hang on to him.

If it means bringing in proven talent then I'm for it. I like KCP but it's time to win and you have to give a little to get a little.

I want no part of Gordon. PG or SF is what we need. Not an undersized SG when we just took KCP.

Gay has proven to be average.

these aren't positive assets though. I wouldn't have traded #8 for a contract a team doesn't view as positive. And a lotto pick is not "little"

Well we can agree to disagree on the value then. I for one like Gordon and Gay.

no way we get away with two robberies. one is going to be hard enough. but to throw away our junk for gay, and then throw away more junk for gordon, thats not going to happen.
i think gordon can be very good, he has his disadvantages being small and injury prone, but he can definitely be an all star. pairing him and iggy would be ideal, even more so than gay, and easier to do, but i dont see it happening without giving up a serious asset, that id prefer to keep right now.

That's a lot of money to pay Gordon to clap in a suit on the sidelines for a couple years, and appearing in a couple games a year.

You would rather have an injury prone cancer with a higher contract over Gay. Not saying we can get Gay any more but there are a lot of better fits than EG.

I wonder if we'll see a Tyreke Evans S&T for Eric Gordon. Sacto burnt the Igoudala bridge and Reke wants to go to New Orleans now...

What about Mclemore? No way either could play the 3.

I would be willing to do something like this.

Detroit out: Stuckey, Knight, and N.O. choice of Jerebko or Singler.

N.O. out: Gordon and Vasquez.

Why for Detroit: Take a flyer on Gordon becoming healthy and Vasquez is a very good PG, and a large upgrade from Knight.

Why for N.O.: Salary dump of Gordon and two young pieces in Knight and either player they choose.

I think it would be worth the risk. If Gordon is not healthy we have KCP to fill his spot. If he is healthy and is unhappy and causes problems he can be traded fairly easy, and again, KCP can fill in. I also believe Vasquez would be a very good PG for the way are team is constructed.

We got to go for home runs being we're small market with no pick next year. Go after Gordon cause Gay is off for now. Gordon is a star and if you get j smooth and iggy with him you are now some bench players from being very loaded.
Pistons vs. Warriors in the Finals in 2017 - With KCP hitting a game winner so the Pistons dont get swept.

This guy gets it.

If we wanted an undersized 2-guard who we knew could score immediately, we could have taken CJ McCollum at 8. McCollum doesn't have a knee of a 85 year old man.

I would be pissed if KCP was traded before we ever even saw him in a game for Detroit. (summer league doesn't count!)
